I may be preaching to the converted here, but I discovered earlier today that tickets have to be bought before Saturday to qualify for the season ticket discount.I was aware of this only when I phoned up earlier today. It goes up a fiver for adults and three quid for nippers. To be fair it does say on the website "(Discount applies to advance purchase only)". Disclaimer:If this is fake news, I'm blaming the member of staff I talked to. Can anyone elucidate?

This is how you put some people off turning up on the day, putting it up by 50% when there really is no need, it will be no where near a sellout.

On the other hand, if you don't have an increase then we'd all be whining when the queue at the ticket office stretches back to Heeley because there's no need to buy in advance? Agree that's a big jump but would imagine most STHs would just click two buttons on the website if they did want to go

Or leave it too late, meaning they can't do it due to the John Street rules and have to call down to sort :)

Very much in two minds as to whether I'm going or not. Finding it very difficult to be enthused by the occasion but I also dislike not being there when we're at home.

I'll have to decide by tomorrow. Sod paying an extra fiver!

Some people can’t decide until the day but if they find out it goes up by 50% on the day then they might think why should I be punished that much because I didn’t know I could go until a few hours before kick off?

Depends on your perspective. It's either an early buying discount on the normal price, or a late buying surcharge. How many people are only going to know they are able to go on the day anyway?

Not sure, that’s why I said ‘some’.

It’s not late buying either, you’re not paying after the kick off time, it’s laughable for a game of this nature when it's normally only put up £2 on the day for a league game from its original price.

But you are not being 'punished'. You are paying the normal price, and at 15 quid it is still a good price.
Those of us that bought early did so to take advantage of a 50% discount.

Is it reasonable to think that they would have to have quite a lot of extra staff on if most people just turned up to pay on the day? Hence the removal of the discount as a nudge to people to buy in advance.

Punished was probably the wrong word and I completely agree that £15 is still a decent price but I think you’re missing my point. It normally goes up just the £2 on the day, why is it £5 for this game was more to the point?

No, they’re automated turnstiles and the drink and food is shit anyway.

But if people pay on the day, they have to hand over cash or pay by card, which is not done at an automated turnstile.
There’s only so many counters, I think there’s about six in total that you can pay at on the day. People simply have to get there as early as they can.

And I agree with you that it's a hell of a jump. That said, it's not like the increased price is exorbitant

Maybe not to me or you but a fiver is a fiver at the end of the day when people prioritise things in life. Again, they shouldn’t put it up that much on the day, simple as for me. £12 on the day is fair enough, the other £3 could be used for a match day programme.

Double checked this.I can confirm that the prices do go up to the standard prices for season ticket holders if not purchased before tomorrow.

Yes I was looking to go but not been too well lately so thought I would wait to see how I felt Saturday morning... although not totally 100% fit but thought I would go to the game and support the boys, called the ticket office for my ticket and told about the cut off time, it’s not the money just the principle so I will give it a miss :(

I activated my season ticket this morning fir today and it was 16 quid. Still cheap to watch the Wizzards
