I wonder if we will lose any sponsorship over this decision to sign a player who may well never regain the form and levels of fitness he had when last here, fans arguing again, the inevitable bad press etc do we really need to take the risk? If we could guarantee him reaching the levels of 2011 then yes it would be worth it I just can't see him ever being the same player.

Backwards step for me, don't think he can do it in the championship. He couldn't before when we were there, so don't think can do now.
My optimism for promotion is slightly waining.

And I think most would - a month or so ago - have binned Clarke off. I think there's an awful lot more to come out of this but, for all the virtue-signallers out there - as well as Ennis, Webster, Heaton etc. - Ched has been cleared. But, like the Brexit vote, it won't fit in with some people's agendas and they'll refuse to accept this simple truth.

Chesterfield will most likely have realised some months ago they would go down. Or at least there was a chance.

They would also be aware, based on interest received, that Evans was / is a valuable commodity and would be unlikely to want to drop to Div 4 at this (or any) stage of his career.

They took steps to protect their investment by triggering the extension to 2018. Sensible.

Knowing all this, it then becomes all about securing the best transfer fee.

1. Judges make decisions in The X Factor but that's not what we're talking about is it. We're talking about a rape trial and they don't make decisions in those about guilt.
2. Figure of speech. Don't get fixated.
3. I've read plenty of evidence and there is evidence she was too drunk, whilst it is not disputed that they both had sex with her. You may believe in his innocence but to say there is no evidence of guilt in a trial where someone was convicted the first time is ridiculous. It's not a question of appeal - he has been acquitted, so now they will need new extradordinary evidence to try him again.

If you think I'm a twat, that's ok too I'm not moving to New Zealand because we're signing Ched. But I'm a lot less bothered about missing the season now.

Matey...my initial point was it's a good job you are not a judge. Judges made a decision on a retrial and the safety of the initial conviction. Pedantic perhaps, but a fact that judges DO make conviction decisions in a court. Rape...is generally heard by jury.
Reading plenty of evidence, isn't reading all. In the first trial, a judge ruled (note a judge) certain parts of the evidence for Evans defence couldn't be heard. Some of that evidence related to her motives, and conversations she had surrounding sums of money. Judges later ruled the evidence was relevant in the case, as were some messages and conversations she had with certain people.
If you can cast aspersions on the character of Evans, surely it's only right that hers can be looked at to based on what's been heard about her.
And I wouldn't be proud of my son if he carried in like that...in fact adult or not I would have battered him. But I would also be equally disgusted with my daughter for her well documented antics prior to and in the incident in question.
But that's me.

Let's call that it...good luck in NZ, and think again about where support lies. This club is about more than one friggin player, never has and never will.

Ultimately, Wilder has put VERY few feet wrong this season. IF this is happening, he'll have performed all due diligence and made sure the moral of HIS group of players isn't going to be affected. 'In Wilder we trust' and he's done more to deserve the adoration than any manager since Bassett for me.

Don't forget as well that Mitchell was probably involved in his move to Chesterfield before he came to The lane so will have done due diligence on him twice now.

The year's good work resulted in promotion and the league title - that hasn't been undone.

It's also resulted in what I would guess are excellent season ticket sales for next season - that hasn't been undone.

What do you think has been undone? I'm not having a go, I'm just really struggling to understand the feeling that everything has now been ruined.

Also, I don't think I'll be alone in thinking that one of the very best things about this season was the exact opposite of "we were a new club". I thought we returned to being our old club, the one we all fell in love with. For me, that was just behind 1st place and 100 points on the list of great things Wilder achieved. I don't see how signing Ched stops us being that brilliant old club. He's an innocent man and I've never heard a single word from anyone in football to suggest that he isn't someone who other players think of as a good team mate.

Maybe it hasn't been decided to put it out now. Probably leaked to the journalist by someone high up at the club or even a player?.
I don't have an issue with it as long as Wilder is 100% behind the decision.
