Crud Evans

so does heskey but he dont always score.

Heskey is the ideal non-scoring striker. He doesn't score too many, but what he does do is hold up the ball and lay it off to enable other players, either forwards or midfielders, to score. There's an interesting article on forwards in the latest FourFourTwo.

Alas, Evans doesn't seem to be able to do numbers one or two on the list of things forwards need to do. Number one is score, and he isn't doing much of that. Number two is help others to score, and there's not much sign of that happening. Booting the ball as hard as possible into a wall at a free kick is not on the list, and it's only acceptable if the wall has Teddy Sheringham in it and he gets it full in his smug twat face. That won't happen, but it doesn't seem to stop Evans from trying anyway.

I think young Chedward may develop into a quality player. But there's also every sign that this is as good as it gets and we've been properly stiffed by City.

No Evans today and we played some stunning football and both strikers scored. Surely just a coincidence?

Quinn absence obviously had a huge effect too but playing two strikers who know the art of centre foward play, know where to make runs and when to play passes, and generally aren't completely useless, was a big factor.

I agree Guesty. But i'd also like to see Ched playing alongside Camara.

How can anyone say ched doesnt put a shift in? Compare him to the workload of say Hendo and see how much ground they both cover in the same amount of time and if Hendo covers more ground I will be mroe than happy to run around Sheffield naked, omce people have it in for a player they cannot see any good work they do, hence looking through blinkers at the work Ched actually puts in.......in very similar to Squinny, I really dont see the point in him as a footballer so will rarely see him or admit to him doing something good
I couldn't care less how much ground Ched covers. How many goals has he scored this season? How many goals has Henderson scored this season?

Ched's job is to score. He doesn't do it. If his job was to run around all over the place and not do an awful lot then he'd be doing a great job.

Give me Henderson over Evans any time.

In theory that would work really well but it hasn't clicked for Evans yet, and Henderson did well bringing in the pacy players around him.

After today, I trust the arguments about Evans are now over.

Why? Because we'll only ever play with the same two strikers?

I think the arguments for playing 2 strikers in an orthodox formation rather than 1 / 3 are reinforced

Nah, because playing with two strikers who can score and offer different qualities is better than playing with two that includes one who can't score and has no qualities.

Didn't Ched score 9 in 11 games at Norwich. Maybe if Blackie got him play in an out an out striker role then he may just get the goals.

However for me personally if Ched is going to learn how to play the game better he needs to be hanging round with Camara more on the training pitch.
