Stopped our game, looked to have some decent players who will keep them in this division. Was most impressed with Jackson Irvine who I recall lots wanted us to get if we'd had deeper pockets.

I thought Dicko was good, but Irvine was nothing special (to me), they wanted it more, faster, better at closing down, stronger, and will be weird if they get relegated after a performance like this. Crap viewing for any neutral, watching on Sky TV.

No credit they were dire aswell. They just had more effort. Even Wednesday would’ve beat us tonight

It was a very frustrating match because of how poor Hull were. I felt that only a marginal increase in tempo and completed pass percentage would have seen us take control. Instead we gradually got worse. I do love a cliché me, we beat ourselves last night.

I’m not as convinced they will stay up. We should have been battered tonight, you’ll not see a worse performance from a team from the Conference through to the Premier League this weekend.

It was a game of non football and I’d be very concerned with Adkins describing it as ‘very good’. I’m not even sure they deserved to win to be honest. 0-0 would have been the right result for that game.

I think you're right, Dellas.

Leaving aside our complete no-show for a moment, I'm sure that Hull have enough to stay up. They still have enough remnants of quality, as you might expect from a side that got promoted from this division less than 2 years ago. In fact, at half-time in the match at the Lane, I recall that they had arguably looked the best side to have been to the Lane up to that point in the season, save for Brentford. Obviously, we took them apart in the second-half and mentally they looked fragile (indeed I think that was what their previous manager kept saying about them), but some of their players are clearly decent players. They're not 'a Sunderland'.

That seems to be borne out by their results since Adkins came in. They haven't lost at home in the 7 games since they changed manager (wins against Brentford, United and Forest (cup), and draws with Derby, Fulham, Reading and Leeds), but are pathetic away from home (1 win and 6 defeats - including one at Sunderland).

Looking at that, and regardless of league positions, the fixture was always threatened to be a tough one and turning up and putting in a complete non-performance, like we did, was not going to get us anything.

Like all cowards they raised their game for sky, along with us having a very very bad night, I’m looking for a positive response from our players against Reading. It can’t get any worse, (hopefully).

Yes, I was waiting for that collapse under pressure as the game went on but looks like Adkins has had some effect on that. They look like a more dogged team now that has some quality also. They're staying up as sure as geese are geese!

They worked hard enough but we didn't put them under any pressure, Leonard slides that ball through to Baldock early doors, 1-0 and it's a different ball game, the fans' protest levels would have gone up a notch and the 'Ull players would have gone into their shells as they have been for the most part under Adkins. That was the disappointing thing about last night, the game was there for the taking and as Tufty said, the other teams in and around us would have capitalised.

have another one then 'they were there for the taking'
hence everyone's disappointment!

Irvine is a fantastic player. He'd have been a great signing. Great burst if speed, control and desire to get to a ball first. The only negative is that he's too eager which can often get him into trouble.
