Hopefully this is the result that gives some of the players the kick up the arse that's needed.

Boro will push us all the way now and we need to be ready for the fight.

What happened with this? I’m putting 2 and 2 together and if it’s what I think then we may have lost the dressing room here! Can’t start a fight with the players after loosing one game! Why would they want to play for us if we’ve got that mentality!
Not quite sure, I think it was the way the ball was thrown back to Robbo. He completely lost it, looked like he was telling the fan to meet him outside. Then at the final whistle he looked like he was going back over until he was stopped.

Christ!

They weren't great by any measure, we were just much fucking worse.
They had loads of holes in their game, which were there to be exploited had we not decided to play like a set of fucking gormless cunts who looked like they'd only just met each other 10 minutes before kick-off.

Fuck Boro, and fuck United even more.
Yep, was a performance where the players looked like they had 6 pints pre-match. Sloppy at best, even when were creating promising positions.

Boro looked as good as Forest did when they came last season. But we should have been 3 up in first 15 mins. Ndiaye and McAtee had to do better. Then it was all Boro to be honest but we didnt help. Midfield was lost and too many players were trying to do too much. Sometimes I would prefer them to shoot rather than do a flick or backheel.

The run of games Boro has is something like 14th, 10th, 12th, 19th, 18th, 15th, 8th, no ideal as we have all teams in top half. I can imagine 7 points becomes 0 points very quickly if we do not play better than last night

If we're going to fucking deep-throat and rim-job every fucking team that beats us in the pathetic way we have towards Middlesbrough tonight across two threads then I sincerely hope we don't go up.

Absolute loser

This is how we’ve played most of the
Season glimpses of quality in games the rest disjointed hoof to nobody due to the low intensity we play at
Manager went for it last night and it backfired they slightly changed formation at 15 minutes and we did fuckm all about it

That was annoying. If you look at the stats, possession was slightly in their favour, we had more shots and more on target but if you watched it, we looked shit; nervous and sloppy at times and profligate in front of goal. Hopefully we won’t play a better team at the Lane, going forwards they were excellent; Sharp crisp passing, good movement, good physicality.

I don’t buy into this idea that Boro are somehow now world beaters and we should all start worrying.

They were well disciplined yes, but they also made some basic errors that we didn’t exploit.

Norwood, McAtee, Bogle, Anel, Berge, Ndiaye, McB all nowhere near their best last night. That’s seven of our players.

It’s like we have no plan B to deal with teams that stop our play and possession.

They did to us what we did to Burnley. Rotherham did the same but with no quality to kill off the game second time round (the home game was another mistake / fluke deflection).

Wrexham did the same but with a never say die attitude.

Last night was beyond poor and should be a huge wake up call to the players and management that were not promoted yet. We need to equal or better Boro’s results as they aren’t going to drop many points with their squad and momentum.

He didnt start a fight with one of pur players. He was reacting to a moronic fan who was giving him abuse. There was figthing in the JSS nesr this person after this so i assume some of of fans turned on the moron

Best team to play at the Lane this season!
They deserved that, and I will be amazed if they don't catch us, especially if we perform like that!
Very poor, didn't want the win, slow, closing down was poor, Norwood was shite tonight, and that affected everyonelse. Hopefully just a blip, but boro look strong.
1 to 11 were poor our passing work rate and desire was awful all night hopefully a blip and back on it at Millwall. Credit Boro best I've seen in the championship by a mile .. UTB

Confused by all this "shocking ref decision" talk. McAtee is fouled, ref plays advantage, we have the ball but then immediately concede possession for the hundredth time. That's our fault, not the ref's. Thought he was generally fine.
He played advantage with three Boro players in front of him hardly an advantage, ref should have pulled it back for a free kick as soon as McAtee was crowded out that’s what the refs have been doing

I did think before last night that 88pts would be more than enough for a top two spot now I'm not at all sure it will be. Boro can reach 96 winning all their games (which they won't do) if they play like they did last night I can see them ending up with a points total around the 90 mark. That brings us back to needing to win ten of our remaining games and that might not be enough, as ever with us it's going to be a close run thing we never do owt the easy way.

They are a decent side, pace and some quality players, full of confidence
Certainly dominated us second half
Pressure is now firmly on for 2nd place

I think boring, organised, shit housing, timewasting niggly teams will take points of Boro. They carved through us due to us having a powder puff central midfield and us setting out to attack them and not just nullify them. They were good, we were bang average ( but still created enough chances to win), I'm not overly worried they won their big game, but they have to repeat that now for the next 10 weeks. I'm sure when we turned Fulham over last season at Craven Cottage the players and fans didn't collectively soil themselves- we wont either. I do think the players and management are mentally strong enough to put this one to bed and turn up Saturday and give it a right go. I would bring Fleck in for McAtee sat and maybe for the tougher games, as that midfield last night was weak as piss.

They were the better team all over the park and won all the battles.

Lets face it, we all knew this had been coming and weve been saying it for weeks and weeks how poor we've been... masked over by individual bits of quality (barring perhaps Swansea)

Ok we lost, but it was actualy embarrassing how much better they were than us tbh.

Few weeks back some fools were saying that we been playing poor because we dont play well against teams who stick 11 men behind the ball and just wait until we play some better teams who go for it...

Well look what happened, we got desimated and absolutely destroyed.

No complaints if Boro do end up grabbing 2nd, based on that they deserve it.

Embarrassing from the Blades tho
I’ve said for a few weeks they we don’t look like we’ve got out of second gear, but still got results. When the time comes for us to move up a gear, as in last night, I hoped we hadn’t forgotten how to do it. Unfortunately we had.

To be fair, the ref did try to play the advantage on at least two previous occasions but when no advantage was gained he gave the free kick to us. I think he just made an error of judgement with this incident and 9 times out of 10 nothing would have come of it - sadly for us it did this time.

McAtee goes down we get the free kick, I bet he does next time

Totally agree with all your comments.
We've been lucky lately against weaker teams, we're definitely not good enough for the Premier league. I can see us sliding into the playoffs, next two game's will comfort that. Utb

Sunday league defending for the second goal where Norwood, Egan and AA were still in the dressing room opened the floodgates and gave Boro the confidence they needed to close the game as we were chasing it.

Typical Sheffield United where we go in front early then shit our pants for the next 85 minutes. Happened against Wrexham but we got away with it against a Conference team but not against a team on the up who at the moment look like they might be the next cab off the rank for promotion.

Carrick going to West Ham?
Let's see for a start Moyes is still there.

Secondly no guarantee Carrick would go right now. If he's sensible he would try and see the season out at Boro to achieve something. That said sometimes you can't turn opportunities down.

But even if he did go might not effect the squad and form entirely. Whoever would replace would likely just try to keep it running the same as poss.

Course that doesn't account for players feeling let down.

But it's up to United to make whatever transpires there not matter. We just need to focus on next game and getting enough points.

Carrick going to West Ham?
No chance this season. The owners want Moyes still anyhow from what my west ham friends say, they will only sack him if it gets worse quickly. Even if he goes they'll get a short term option in then maybe look to carrick after the summer. Good try though, love wishful thinking.
