Give over - Chesterfield will never be anywhere near the Blades in terms of size, potential or drawing power. I've not seen enough of Davies to judge him but I bet he'd jump at the chance of joining us - that's assuming we want him & Chesterfield are prepared to sell him

I meant in terms of league positions, and general positive vibes around each club. Clearly they are nowhere near as big us as in terms of infrastructure and that, I just have my doubts over whether he would join, don't get me wrong, I'd love it if he did, he appears to be something of a goal machine, but I reckon our chances of signing ALF, are much higher.

He has to make a decion before the end of the season. Waiting until January wont be an option, Sheridan wont be messed about on this. He either signs a new deal or he is gone, but he has options.

i guess Davies will be looking at big teams my mate said he was bad at oldham athletic and was ship out to Brighton for good he not that good as to what we got at the football club.
 
What about that other large club in this region?
If Mellor goes back to Preston then they may want a pop at Davies.
Is Dave Richards likely to want to do business with his old club, though?

PNE want shut of Mellor, he's on about £15K a week I'm led to believe.

Brown is reported to have said he wants Mellor back to spearhead their lge 1 campaign next season. However, him wanting him back and their board agreeing to fund it are two very separate things.

My money is on Mellor signing permanently for the pigs

Craig Davies, don't touch with a barge pole. What he's done this season for Chesterfield has baffled me. It's a flash in the pan, he won't repeat the feat ever again. If you're really looking at players like him, I would be concerned. Sheffield United is a massive club, there are very few people in football who don't think that. Craig Davies should never play for a club you. If Glenn Murray has to leave us, he should sign for a bigger club and if he decided to join your club, I wouldn't be too disappointed. So long as he doesn't sign for Crystal Palace, it doesn't really matter.

Caller on FH tonight said he'd spoken to Davies at the Chesterfield match and he'd said he was definitely leaving, but not to a Sheffield club . Believe as you will. As that narrows it down to 89 clubs I'd say that my dog could have guessed that one and i don't even have a dog.

I have a sneaking feeling it will be Brighton.
 
Heard we're signing him this week was close to signing last week but Bolton got a couple of injuries so wanted him in their squad for their game against Reading

Not much is external debt, most is to the owner Eddie Davies and he has re-financed it over 10 years.

They still have £16M parachute payments to play with in the next two seasons.

He will roll the dice again until the parachute payments run out (or if they miraculously improve and get promoted again)

Any more defeats like Saturday and I think Freeman will be gone.

More money than sense ?
 

Would be a great signing I think.

That would be a more serious statement to others that we mean business.
