Coventry must have a good team

Funny that he won their player of the season if he split opinion so much.

I think there's a fair bit of bitterness in there but I'm pretty sure he's playing better for us now than he was for them last season.

It's probably down to being in a better team, under a better manager and playing a role that doesn't restrict him in any way.

reminds me of the fact that George Long received the highest match ratings on this board last season, having to bail us out sat behind a rocky defence. now that we have an adequate defence and he's not playing, apparently he's terrible. yes of course he is, I'll just put that in my invisible folder along with the entry for Mark Howard - he had to cope with much the same but is now getting game time behind an adequate defence and doing none to badly.

Well, that's two comments of mine that they don't seem to like. I suspect it might be a bit close to the bone for them re turning their backs on the club when they were on their arse. For any Sky Blues reading our forum now - that's exactly what you did. When they needed you most, you had fans outside Sixfields asking fellow supporters not to go in and attendances of 1500.

They make a point about us being 2nd best to Parson Cross Rovers, which is fair enough at the moment, but presumably that could actually be envy at the fact that we actually have a rival, and they have none at all. Or none that actually reciprocate a rivalry.

A midfielder like Fleck won't look as good if there's no movement ahead of him. We're lucky to have him and Coutts in a side where Done, Sharp, Duffy, Lafferty, and Freeman are constantly looking to get ahead of the ball and wanting to receive it.

I can easily imagine Fleck having played in last year's side and being criticised for only going sideways.

I love when people talk about Sheff Uts as anti-football. One guy signs it off with (Bassett, Warnock etc). By etc, he means "that's all I know about Sheff Utd".

They're not happy at some comments on here!

"They always have been a funny bunch of fans, a bit simple and uninformed. A few wins in league one and suddenly they are Barcelona."

"Always will be the 2nd team in Sheffield."

"They seem a little unsure whether Grendel's posting about them gnashing their teeth in jealousy was sarcastic or not. Come on, fellas."

"Yep, they are a simple lot."

Don't mind me... just stirring. Love a good forum vs forum feyt.

Well at least some of them finally admit that Fleck was one of their better players.

Had we signed him all those years ago then we would have sold him by now instead of Kevin McDonald.

Well I have seen some stats that indicate Fleck has scored one, and had 8 assists already for us in 16 games.
Whereas he scored 8 and had 17 assists in his whole Coventry career. Luckily for us, at his age he is just coming into his prime, and now in a good side in a role that suits him.

Luckily stats mean jack shit.
This lad has champions league and europa league experience with Rangers.....he is certainly not average. He is running the show in a winning side for us and looking a different class to anyone else in this league. That's what I look at

If they reckon they are better without him they are simply talking shit. As they clearly weren't capable of getting these performances from him. Even though I saw him against us for Coventry 2 years back at the lane and said to my lot he was the best player on the pitch.

We can hardly blame Coventry fans for giving matches a miss since their club is run by a hedge fund which exists solely to make money. SISU has no interest in success on the field; they tried to buy other hard-up clubs before they descended on the unfortunate Sky Blues in 2008, and by 2014 had managed to achieve relegation and a £40 million loss.

Moving the club to Northampton was done in order to avoid paying rent on the Ricoh Arena. A High Court judge in 2014 found that SISU had withheld rent on purpose in order to "financially distress" the stadium's owner, ACL, in order to then buy the ground at a knockdown price. That plan failed and City are now tenants of Wasps Rugby Club.

Mock Coventry for not recognising John Fleck's talent by all means, but the supporters have suffered enough over the last 8 years without us sticking it to them as well and implying they are disloyal. I'm surprised they get any fans through the gate at all, considering.

Fuckin ell Roy you've started summat here, what's happened got your gas bill this morning :@

Must have been fun for you after we shamelessly kicked them all over the shop on the way to a spozzy 1-0 last season.

One of my best friends is a Cov season ticket holder and was watching that match on tv, sent me many abusive texts during the game. His son however, who actually knows something about football (despite being another season ticket holder at the Stadium of Hush), sees the true meaning of a player like Fleck leaving them for us. A good player who could get paid more for playing at a more ambitious club. And he's very disappointed to have seen him go.

Fleck is 24 I think and is a proper player, much more excited about him in our team than I was , for instance, Kevin McDonald.

Would be nice to think we can keep hold of him for 3 or 4 years and build a team around him , won't go blue failing to breathe though.

What I want to know is how you've got over 150 likes for so few posts?

Despite my antipathy towards Cov, I have to agree with your post. Football fans revere AFC Wimbledon, but I feel confident they had better attendances before they got fucked over.
