Like most of the British population and evidently much of Coventry, I never used to give a flying fuck about Coventry City. But in recent seasons I've concluded that they are probably the bitterest, whiniest set of twats in the league.

Just as I'm starting to feel more positive about our chances this season given what seemed like great signings today and last month, I go and read that and learn that our manager is Robert Page. For fuck sake United :(

Reminds me a bit of some of our fans when we lost McDonald to be fair. "We will be fine without him, he goes missing, he doesn't score enough......."
Hardly gone on to greatness the Scottish non goalscoring wonder has he?

They're either the most bitter set of fans ever or we've signed the new Ryan Flynn. My bet it's the former - god I hope I'm right .

Good comparison with McDonald. But with all due respect to Coventry, and I hate doing what Wednesday fans do a lot of, but we are much bigger than them. My guess is that his Championship offers came from the likes of Burton and maybe Wigan etc and he fancied joining a club with far bigger potential than them. Its actually a brave move from him to turn down the Championship offers because he realises the potential of United. Their fans saying that Fleck is a money grabber want to remember than Coventry are well known for paying low wages, particularly for the size of their club. Now fair play to them for not offering big wages, but that obviously means you lose players to other clubs when another club is prepared to pay the going rate or excess of the going rate for that said player.

Just turning the cock back to McDonald, we'd totally saved his career as he was overweight, had just had loan spells at Scunny and Notts County and not pulled up any trees and then released by Burnle before Donny not offering him a contract after his trial there. We gave him a years contract and he then took forever to re-sign the summer after, and when he did, his agent got him a minimum fee release clause of £750,000 which was a steal, and we also heard that it was Initially just £250,000 up front and the rest on appearances. I think when he left for Wolves which granted is a huge club with a top notch history but then again I would say so are we on both fronts. They offered him more money and a better chance of promotion and whilst I don't blame him for going there, it showed a lack of respect for United and the fans given all of the above. Fleck on the other hand has left Coventry for a much bigger club in United, always has been and always will be. It is definitely not a side move as they put it, obviously in division, but not in club size and potential. They don't like that, but its the truth, and if I was Fleck I would certainly have looked around to see what was out there this summer and if Coventry rated him that highly they should have offered him another contract last summer, rather than waiting for it to run out. You always run the risk of losing players when you do that.

I'm really pleased with Flecks signing, I can't actually remember the last time we signed someone that I really knew a lot about and that his so highly rated! We normally sign players that aren't wanted by other clubs and that doesn't mean that they're not good enough, but its nice to sign a team's player of the season Seems like he is a bit like McDonald playing wise actually!

“Sheffield United what a joke I certainly would give him shit on his Ricoh return,Worry for next season#JUDAS”

Coventry fans allus see themselves as a top flight club - playing football with a passing style and see the Blades as a clogging team.

I know a couple that are all right and know there football but the majority I know have a real chip on their shoulders. They really crow about it if they get one over on you but are really bitter about it (and never give any credit) if you do them.

That's why last year's "steal" in the game vs Cov at BDTBL last year was a sweet moment (in a sea of shit) cos they battered us and we deserved fuck all but came out of it with 3 points from a scrappy finish :D

Maybe he didn't fancy playing in front of 20,000 empty blue seats in the most lifeless stadium in the league, Tony, you fucking fanny eyed twat :)

"And then Tony stormed off upstairs to bed, clearly stung by his wifes brutally honest assessment of the situation" :)

Cheers Roygbiv xx if you were to do a most hatred view from of us from a team that included as many letters in ‘ HIllsbourgh is falling down due to rust ‘ which would be your top five if you stood on one leg ?

“He’s a class act. Sheffield United are a bigger club than us, that’s a fact right now.”

At least one of them has a little bit of sense, mind you it's only a little bit because Sheffield United have always been a bigger club than Coventry

Yeh even when they were in First Div/ Prem for 30 odd years and we were in the lower leagues all those years.........we were still bigger.

I liked Ernie Hunt and Willie Carr though. But I’ve gone off them since then.

“very embarrassed for him , sheff utd not really known as a footballing powerhouse are they"

Then again, we are at least big enough to afford the rent on our own ground and not have to play at Northampton in front of 1,500, thank fuck.

Now that's embarrassing......

I miss him....
