The new manager has asked for unity and clean slate for the new season. This OP goes against everything that has been asked for and what is required. And regarding Coutts, after the serious injury he suffered I very much doubt he'll be back to full sharpness even when the new season starts. But one thing is for sure, he is a talented footballer and hopefully the new manager can get that out of him.

He clearly has some talent and was tidy with possession. But when I saw him last year, he clearly wasn't fit enough to play the full match and his performances suffered because of this.

Hopefully a full preseason behind him and he'll be ready to contribute next year.

Possibly true - however, I sincerely doubt he'll get away with the performances he put in under Clough. I accept that he's probably got more to offer, but what he offered last season was well short. Blindly sticking with him added to Clough's downfall.

One way or another, I'm confident that we won't see more of the same from Coutts.

Let's hope you're right. However, I think most of Coutts' detractors (like me) were complaining about his inclusion in the side, not that he didn't have potential ( I've gone with that because of the number of people insisting he has).

If his no show last season was because he wasn't fit - all well and good. The manager using our faltering promotion push for a rehabilitation project was the unacceptable part.

Coutts played well towards the end of season and was one of the few at Swindon who was demanding the ball and trying to make things happen unlike one or two of the fans' favourites who disappeared.

He had the odd good game but I can't accept that he played well as a general statement. He did OK at Swindon. He was excellent at Barnsley. He was largely woeful the rest of the time. Anyway, hopefully those who see potential are right - that's all that matters.

I think some fans label players as shite , because we sometime do not , always understand or appreciate what they do . Take the emotion out of a game , and watch as a neutral , you sometimes see a different perspective . More than once i have used John McGovern as a good example . That aside , new brush sweeps clean for next season , for manager , fans , players . All aim for the same thing.

Problem with him was his "simple" stuff. He did some wonderful difficult things which appeared to go unnoticed by many on here. That is why I know he'll be good for us. If its only the simple things he needs to work on its better than having to improve his overall game, as Doyle had to do.

I don't really think it's fair to jump to conclusions and say the OP knows nothing, he has the absolute right to express his concerns with Coutts solely on his awful performances last season, whether it be from injury or not. We can all see he offered not much more than loss of possession last season.

It is important not to forget though that Coutts does have potential and I hope, as well as predict, that Coutts, J. Wallace and Basham will be a midfield trio that will rip most division 3 teams apart next season.

Not sure but I'd say coutts has split the crowd, I'd say he's a monty type player, who might I add I supported.
