Look if anyone knows about this I do ( not been pretentious but ) I broke my tibia a long time ago playing football I had a full leg cast on for 4 weeks then a smaller one on for about 3 weeks then I was walking on crutches after that . The main problems was getting the tendons and ligaments going after that took ages but I didn't receive the treatment Coutts will get the phyisio is the big thing . Yes I am no doctor and yes every case is different but if they are no complications he could be in light training in 8 to 10 weeks !!! Please let it be so !

PS It f00kin does hurt as well ,I really crindged watch him laid their.

This is an absolute bummer, as Coutts has been outstanding for us in recent times.

My one consolation is that, being the manager he has shown himself to be, Chris Wilder will find a solution which will allow us to carry on almost seamlessly in his absence.

He will be back. His previous recovery time was for a knee dislocation that fucks up ligaments and tissues. Paul has a fracture that is completely different and suggests a more rapid recovery than his previous injury.
Agree, he will get metalwork in this weekend and then it will be a case of the bone repairing and strengthening hence the 4 months. Then it’s rehab and get back to fitness time. Bone will be stronger than before with metalwork in it. Unlikely back this season.

Your right there if there is screws metal work involved I don't think he will be back , if like mine its just a case of setting the leg in its right position with a cast then he has a good chance of been back . I am afraid all we can do is wait and see a massive loss to an unbelievable season so far .

He will be ready for the first game of next season, when he makes his comeback in the Premier league

Crikey I was in a cast for seven months.

No room for sentiment sadly. I think this could spell the end for him with us if his previous recovery is anything to go by. We have to be looking for a better, probably younger replacement in January. Easier said then done but that's football.

Fuck him,now he can no longer help the cause, send him to theNorthern General A and E department, let him wait for 4 hours plus

Generalisations are just that ..... generalisations . It's incredibly difficult and problematic trying to compare like for like as we are all so very different . For the record I broke both fib and tib in my right leg and when I did it I felt almost no pain whatsoever . I've also ruptured the ACL in my right knee and that was pure unadulterated agony . The ruptured ACL was a nightmare in every respect and dwarfed the broken fib and tib in every way imaginable . Does that mean I should be telling Coutts to stop whining about it as I know it's not painful . Of course it doesn't .

Let the experts sort Coutts out and he'll comeback in his own time .

So many qualified surgeons on here it's unbelievable.

As far as I know, the only person near to that accolade is (if I remember rightly) Small Mendonca.

Everyone else can sit darn. :)

As I've almost certainly had more broken bones and other skeletal injuries than any other poster on here I'll remain squatting if that's ok with you :eek:

The Northern General did wonders to a close family member of mine who had an horrific leg break. Had they gone to another hospital in the area then apparently things could have turned out much differently and for the worse.

I hate the Northern General but you're right . Departmentally the Northern General has some of the best of their kind in the country .

Thought fracture was a crack in the bone....like stress fractures are just little cracks

Thought a break was a clean....break.

This is how some people use the term, but it's not medical terminology. For instance, a compound fracture can have bones sticking out the skin.

I also have this wonderful hospital to thank ,as a visitor I was not impressed,as a patient I have nothing but praise and wonderment at the job everyone does at the NG

Dunno, it doesn't look good and it's load-bearing too. Can see it being Easter at least :(

He’s just broken his leg

Absolutely gutted for him. Especially as he's gonna miss the world cup in the summer.

Oh shit....... he's Scottish. Never mind.

I was going to mention THAT department as I know it's one of the very best if not THE best in the country but I thought I'd leave it to you . For what it's worth though a close relative of mine was treated in the same department and he echoed your sentiments too .
