Coutts sub, why?

We couldn't keep the ball? That's the usual keep possession in the middle substitution from Wilder.

Doesn't work like but there you go.

Fairly straightforward.

AM off. CM on.

Not that hard to understand I would have thought.

WHY ?

I understand the modern parlance is “game Management” !!

UTB

...cost us today and the away games to Birmingham & Villa.

The substitutions we've made in these games have been confusing and I wonder if this is felt by the players?

We changed our shape 3 times today and the final substitution seemed to invite panic & disorganisation. This is my only, minor criticism of Wilder - We have a bench full of adequate cover for all positions but yet we continue to go for the unnecessary reshuffles.

Right sub in theory. Coutts sadly looks like he did when he first joined us.

Sorry but the subs were fine today. Not the reason we conceded

Coutts does not tackle or close down, good on the ball but we needed someone to get close to them and put some tackles in
Got we deserved today, over run in midfield like the Bristol game

Logically, removing Duffy (which Wilder does almost every game) was always going to happen. I would have used Dowell but Coutts of the promotion season would have been perfect. Great at ball retention. Calm. Collected. Current Coutts looks like a non-league footballer. I'd have Lundstram in front of him.

I thought the replacing Billy with Cranie and not Hogan was the strangest one.

We play so much better when we’re on the front foot and that change gave us less movement.

Yes mate I said the same thing. We needed pace when they started to attack us to push their defence back. Plus I thought Freeman was poor, so no reason to go back to 5 at the back as the full backs weren't really in the game.

And then he blamed the players for taking a backwards step. No Chris - it was YOU. Don’t hang the lads out to dry and not shoulder any of the blame yourself. Poor form.

Was the least confusing of all the subs to me. Coutts is better at retaining the ball than Dowell.

God I’m pissed off tonight!

Lundstram would be a better sub to have in those situations. Puts himself about.

Coutts and Norwood together will invite pressure onto us. Dowell would have kept us worrying them at the back.

Wilder bottled it.
If he had brought Dowell or Hogan on and ended up with the same result, he would have been slated for that too!

Worst thing for me is Chris hasn’t shouldered any responsibility and instead put it all on the players toes.

Would hazard a guess designed to spark a reaction.
