Coutts and Hammond

Yep. I'm a supporter of Adkins. Any signing of Hammond would be a real mistake and eat into his diminishing goodwill.

as well as losing a few ST sales .. mine included. i think that the idea was that hammond with his experience would be able to bring the young lads along but as it's turned out the young lads are carrying 'him'

I've considered not renewing mine if we sign him. But in the end I will either way.

I would be happy with Hammond on a small wage, predominantly as a coach but also a squad player. The guy tries, his legs have gone. He can do a decent job coming off the bench for 30 minutes every so often at this level.

I'd spend that small wage on a player who can start and play for ninety minutes for most of the season.,

Why is Hammond down for a coaching job here anyway? Surely Adkins has enough already?

We are a retirement home for old donkeys

These two really make my piss boil. I'm just praying that Clough is tapping up his old mate Couttsie to join him at Burton, and that the fans are influential in deterring Hammond not to join us in the summer. I have absolutely no faith in Adkins to make the right decision on these two, when they can both barely last 60 minutes and he starts them together most weeks. Last night, it was a shit Coutts pass that led to Hammond's foul for the first, and a shit Hammond pass they gave them possession for the 2nd. Clowns the pair of 'em.

Burton couldn't afford 50% of Coutts' wages.

I have as a kid (for my own club). Same as an exam award ceremony. Boring.

Hammond has been pretty average at best, but as least he tries and appears to actually give a fuck. If he had been signed from League 2 on £500 a week he probably wouldn't get the amount of stick he gets. He also actually fills a role in the team, which leads me on to Coutts.

What the fuck role does Coutts do for the team? Generally midfielders are either defensive or attacking, but Coutts is neither. He can't tackle at all so isn't defensive and he creates nothing and can't score so he can't be called attacking. He is the most pointless midfielder ever!

You can judge Coutts by how many times the commentators mentioned his name in the second half. Somewhere close to nil. Similar for Flynn, but at least Flynn tends to get stuck in.

Hammond gets some credit for having popped up with a goal (gifted to him by comedy defending and keeping, but still a goal). He loses most of it for yet again making a pointless foul that ultimately cost us a goal.

Watching Done just made me sad. A guy we signed as a striker, who seemed to be doing a reasonable job in that role, somehow ended up playing as some weird new kind of wing back that can't tackle. How clear does he have to make it that he can't defend to save his life? Giving their lad six yards of space to score their second wasn't enough. Maybe their third goal will make it clear.

Seems like our only hope is that Billy will score enough to make up for the shameful players around him. And when he chokes his best chance you know right then that the game is over for us.

One thing that the commentators did get wrong: our season didn't end last night. It ended when Gillingham put four past us and showed us once again that managerial appointments are meaningless when your transfer policy has been utter bollocks for years.
