Missed them in the second half,i think we can function missing just one of the three of Fleck Coutts Duffy, but you take two out and the fluid football takes a hit.

Thats why i am glad January is getting closer we need some quality cover bringing in,but where do you find another Coutts.........................black lad at Bristol Rovers would do.

I think not only did we miss coutts and Duffy but we missed freeman and lafferty's role changed. It was tough against 9 men. We'd have been better against 11 as they would've attacked

Tues will be a patch up but a decent side all the same

I know its lazy and it does my head in a bit when people bang on about bringing former players back but we could do a lot worse than ask Reading about Stephen Quinn.unless hes injured hes only made one appearance this season.

Would defo take him in this league, defo not in the Championship though.

If we could get a loan until the end of the season for someone like him, or of similar quality that'd be ideal.

Coutts seems to be ok. Freeman didn't look too bad, just a sore back, Duffy's was innocuous which so often prove to be the longest injuries. I'd expect one of coutts/freeman to play midweek at least.

Cheers mate appreciate this. I'm only a 'Gerremallback' away from four corners on Pinchy bingo this week.

All 3 not serious injuries according to the gaffer. Duffy calf strain, Freeman knock in his lower back and Coutts bashed in the shinbone but escaped serious injury.

Duffy was injured before start of game. Surprised he started. He was seen in warm up by 1 of physio and then they spoke to whiteman who went down tunnel so it locked as if the there might be a change to the team but they must have decided to give him a go

What's the world coming to when we can say we missed Coutts! But we did and we missed Duffy.

Sorry but for me Fleck and Coutts are better midfielders than Basham (I'm not counting Duffy as he's an altogether different type of player) and JOC is a better defender. I know he tries hard and gives it 100% but he's only good enough for the bench if everyone else is fit.

However he could play right wingback if Freeman isn't fit. Played there a few times last season and was surprisingly not bad.

If all 3 are injured then I'd move Basham to RWB and bring O'Connell back in at centre half.

In midfield, does anybody think Brooks is ready to come in for Duffy? I'd be inclined to maybe give him a go against Bury on Tuesday night, with Scougall in for Coutts. Chapman can come on for either of these two but we are lacking a bit of physical presence then.

I hope none of them are out for very long because the enforced changes certainly slowed us down in the 2nd half.

Paul Coutts, John Fleck and Mark Duffy are all absolutely crucial. They compliment each other superbly. The heartbeat of the team. But Coutts is the one we can least do without. He's the orchestrator; the ringmaster. Everything flows through him.

Get well soon Couttsy....

My 3 favourite players with Duffy being my overall favourite.
All have real quality and now know each other's game making them even more affective.

Basham is not the answer, just not good enough on the ball.
I like Basham but he showed today when he was moved up into midfield that as an attacking force he just not have it. Time and again he played very poor balls forward/into the penalty area. Just no quality and on the rare occasions he got into the penalty area never looked like scoring. Certainly not a replacement for Coutts, Dufy or Fleck.

If there's any risk with Duffy, I'd leave him out in midweek and play Scougall and Chapman behind Sharp rather than one or the other.

Basham is the best alternative to Freeman at wingback, but if Freeman is fit and Coutts isn't Basham will almost certainly play in his "best" position (even though it's probably the one he's worst at).

If Coutts misses out and Basham is at wing-back, we don't really have anyone who plays the same way, Scougall is better further forward, so I'd probably play Whiteman.

Rather than bringing in more benchwarmers in January we should use the squad we've got as even with these three injuries we probably won't have to resort to using people like Brown or Reed, the last thing we need is a bloated squad again when we're not even using all the players we already have.

Agreed. Couttsy,Duffy and Flecky are vital. Bashy isn't really up to it,Scouggy is fine, not sure about Chappy yet. Billy and Doney or Billy and Clarkey? Lavary?
Deary deary. Willy nilly Tuesday Bury.

They are all good but Coutts has always had the top footballer inside him once he got over the worry of his seriously injury at Derby.

Fleck however in current form is pulling the strings.

Coutts, Fleck and Duffy three midfield players who compliment each other perfectly, I would still be confident of continuing the good run if we were only missing one of them, but if two are out then it's a much more of a difficult task.

Basham has been a great part of this run and Wilder recognaises that. He has great energy and can pick a pass (for a centre half). But he's exactly that a good footballing centre half type not an orchestrating midfielder like Coutts or Fleck. For me I'd leave the defence as is (freeman apart) as we're hardly shipping goals and try scougall in there. Scougall for me really hasn't got the praise he deserves as our second top scorer along with chipping in with a few assists. Brown has been signed as cover for Freeman so now is his chance. Keep the shape the same but maybe look to use Clarke in place of Done
