[="silver blade, post: 1568583, member: 13184"]Do we really want to risk adding new players to Friday's squad?[/QUOTE]
I dont TBH. I'd like our best settled 11.

The best thing about this news is that surely it will see the JTW moaners receding into the background for at least a week or two. They’ve been pushing their agenda since November now. It’s been silly season on here!

The poor glass half empty souls, they will no doubt resort back to complaining about the birds in the trees singing out of tune.

Or telling themselves that Brooks will be sold

I'm confused. I thought Wilder was walking, on account of McCabe trousering all the cash (?).

Is it that Rip van Winkle bloke making these signings, or Alan Knill ?

What with us winning yesterday with a much changed team, and the imminent signing of RL,it has rather knocked the wind out of the woe is me,we are doomed brigade, but rest assured they will be back, probably misconstruing Wilders body language at Leonard's unveiling, claiming something is definitely not right behind the scenes

I’m not sure which camp my £2m claim puts me in, but in whichever camp we are, would you think a 3rd division midfielder*and ( net) one loan signings should shut anyone up?

*I’m delighted with this deal, because Wilder wanted it.

Of course what he actually stresses more than anything is quality football played the right way. Check his interview after the Bolton game,

The “Bladey thing” is utter bollocks and always has been. Did he have a “Cobblers thing” when succeeding at Northampton?

It’s all about good players playing the right way. The rest is parochial sentimentality. Were you waving a knife and fork when you wrote it?

That reminds me....

He wouldn't get a mention if he had no United connections. He's a complete nonentity.

Bladey Bladey Claptrap. It never changes. Sack a manager with a proven record of success after less than a season and bring in a former Blade on the back of 15 years of not much.

Only in S2.....

It might be for silly Bladey Blades. The rest of the football community would look at his CV and beg to differ.

Nonentity. Fucking Bladey Bladey Nonentity. Read and learn.

Or because a £700,000 fee and 3 players on “£8,000” a week until the end of the season would still leave you nice change from £2,000,000 ?

It’s looking like two substantial fees though isn’t it?

I don’t think think puts you in any camp. You post a lot of sense.

But people talking absolute shite, the same every transfer window, the same old tired agendas. We’re 6th in the league, Wilder is as upbeat as anyone. Let’s get behind the club and we could get the playoffs or even second place. Why try and continuous drag everything down, spin every bit of news negatively, mistrust everything the club and Wilder says. Save the analysis for the summer.

Not sure why people bang on about how much ‘the January budget’ will be.

I would imagine most clubs set their budget for the year in the summer. There’ll be a low and high end to that budget with maybe some emergency provision set aside.

Now unless Wilder went to the board in December and asked for extra cash ( because of Coutts or our league position) and got knocked back, this supposed ‘2 million’ will be whats left from the initial budget.

I'm afraid you do not understand what I am saying. 'Parochial'or not, 'sentimental' no it isn't.

We are building a squad in a different way than any other club I know at this level. We are not throwing cash at short term options. We are cherry picking 'Players of the Year' from lower league clubs; players of character with plenty to prove and to offer; players who can grow with the club.

The new Wednesday manager simply cannot work to this model, he is from another planet. He may bring in the German equivalents of these players but I suggest he will play much safer and throw money at it, take less risk and buy higher rated players from higher levels.

IMO we have a "Wilder S2 Model' unique. for a club of our size at this level. And yes he plays up the "Bladey' thing and that is obvious but may depend on your definition of the term.

Wilder is always keen to broadcast the dedication the club has in the boatdroom and in fans' hearts. He talks about the status and history of the club and the potential a unified United can have. He talks about his culture and life as a Blade. He says he is in his 'dream job' cos he's a Blade. He has restored that pride and he has unified the club.

In a day when money is thrown at clubs and players in particular, this recipe can go a long way. And I reckon it's 'Bladey' through and through.

Don't you feel that Pinchy? Maybe your own 'Bladey' definition is narrower.

Ask Wednesdayites whether they think we have a 'Bladey' thing going on!!

Pinchy any comment? Just got up after night watching the Ashes, thought you might have followed up your previous jibes.

Add in employers NI and we overspend @ £2m.

Something's gotta give......

As I said upwards, i don’t actually think any £2m included wages, it was just posted as worst case.

My only point being that net one loan in and one permanent at £700k isn’t yet stretching the £2m

Couple of points. The reason we aren't throwing money around is not because of Wilders philosophy, otherwise we would be buying young upcoming players from higher leagues as well. It's because we don't have the money, pure and simple.

We ARE fortunate that Chris Wilder and Alan Knill are capable - more than capable - of working under such conditions and can spot players in lower leagues. To suggest that this is actually the "plan" when it's forced on them by necessity is ludicrous. When people worry about Wilder leaving to go to a club who will give him money to spend, do they think he'll still only shop in the lower leagues and not spend big money?

The way we play is not unique to us. Many Spanish teams play exactly the same way. I was flicking between four Italian games yesterday. The Genoa game was untypical, blood and thunder, hoof and all out attacking from both sides. The other three, which included AC Milan, every team played how we try too.

Wilders plan is about signing the best players he can, gelling them into a good hardworking side to be successful. The fact that it's United, will be more in his heart than his head, which is where his decisions come from. It's football, not a Disney film.

Double like. :)

come on Eas - that's far too sensible for some on here.
