Could someone explain the thinking behind our starting 11?

the chesterfield game will hopefully be meaningless, and be played at summer holiday pace

remember winning at wolves 3-1 and then drawing 3-3 last home game so we had the psychological edge then . that worked out well didn't it

I'd rather go in to the play offs with Clough than any of the other third division managers.

I don't think we shoul class any game as meaningless, we need to win, win, win. This will give the team confidence for the job ahead

These wins if they came at all would come at a cost in either in injuries or tiredness. The momentum would be great but I think the players are professional enough and have played enough games this season that they can be rested/rotated.

But...we have to get there first

Given the games we have played this season I agree but a winning team is a successful team, how many times this season have we seen players rested and results have not gone our way, it is hard to manage damed if we do damed if we don't, who would be a manager.

I'd personal wait until we were guaranteed a playoff spot before I rested anyone.
Also did Jose really need resting? He only runs about 100yds per game.

We can't be to disheartened with the draw, shows we still have the fighting spirit that we will need for the playoffs, I have faith, resting some key players paid off (just) we need to keep the momentum going for the remaining games

I agree to a certain point, happy enough with the come back but, could you see us doing the same against MK or Swindon ?.

That must be a rhetorical question,Because watching those teams recently they'd be tough to beat without giving them a two goal head start

I understand preserving certain players but why rest done and Davies but not Murphy or fynn?
Personally I want us to see beat as many teams as possible on our way to the playoffs, let's go into them flying and full of confidence.
Maybe they're carrying slight knocks? Maybe he wants to rest them now and play them in the last games when they may be needed and so they're sharper come the playoffs?

Hasn't Murph just had rest? Flynn has been in and out a bit and may benefit from the game time or just isn't knackered.

And if he wants to get McNulty up to speed, then resting Done or Davies is the obvious option.

Realistically, we need one win out of four games, two to be sure, put Yeovil away and then the main job is to make sure we go into the playoffs with a fit squad. Our form is decent, we've shown we can bounce back after defeats and come back from losing positions. For once it would be good to go into the playoffs with our best eleven on the pitch.

It makes sense.
Or should I say, it makes sense now I know we managed a draw.
I wrote this miserable post at 2-0 down

Vital we don't lose to Chezzie on the last day of the season. Every chance we'll meet them in the play-offs and we don't want to hand them a psycholgical advantage.

Buckle up, it's going to be another roller-coaster!

Sod that. Lose and let them think it'll be a walkover

Good point, but we do seem to up our game to better teams when we need to let's hope the playoffs give us that chance.
