1. A deserved win
2. Rested key players
3. No injuries reported
4. Gave a run out to squad players who made a play to be included in first choice 11.
5. A confidence building goal for Illy
6. Great atmosphere from the fans

and to top it all we got a great home draw for the Quarter finals. Just to point out as well this will be our 6th QF appearance this century and 3rd in last 4 years. Only Sheffield club to get this far this century. No wonder we're known as Sheffield to many people now!!

One of those nights that make you proud to be a Blade.

Sean bean storming the dressing room in a pissed up rage only to give out free signed copies of LOTR extended cut? I don't know.. last night was oreyt

We never got to sing "You've seen United, now fuck off home" which is one of my favourites. :( Otherwise, another outstanding evening at BDTBL.
People did start singing that on the kop at about 89 mins. I was like, “nooooooooooooooooooo” 😳

I stand corrected, cheers. In my defence, I was under my fuckin seat praying for the final whistle !!

And add to your list trying out successfully players in new roles: Anel was superb in the middle of the back 3, as was Doyle in front of the back 3. Might need these again with injuries or suspensions.

Exactly what I’ve said to a couple of friends about the benefits of being in other competitions .

Much is made of the potential downsides , mainly injuries / suspensions to key players which are completely valid , and the somewhat more tenuous one of distraction from the main objective .

On the positive side they provide the opportunity to give fringe players the chance to show what they can do , to use established players in different roles and to make changes to the usual formation .

All of these were a feature of last nights game and as a result , we now know at the very least that in Anel and Doyle we have perfect replacements for Egan and Norwood should they be unavailable , that playing with one up front against the better sides prevents us from being overrun in midfield and that we have youngsters who can do a job if called upon .

In the run in to our potential promotion , this information / experience could prove to be vitally important and have a positive influence rather than that of being an unwanted distraction .
