You only have to do a little bit of digging to find out that both Jason Tindall and John Terry have links to a local London youth club called Senrab FC having both played for the team, it’s also clear that the man who established the club is no other than Jason Tindall‘s Father in 1961. What Worries me is that, Steven Bettis appointed Jason Tindall (decent coach TBF) after knowing each other in some way. Was the employment of Tindall a way of making us think Eddie Howe was the one we were after meanwhile another friend of a friend (Terry) sneaks in through the backdoor?
Despite that being a rather personal example, of connecting dots, do people think that cronyism exists in football in an seemingly acceptable way? And secondly does this practice achieve success or create limitations when trying to find the next up and coming coaches/fresh ideas? be interesting to hear other people’s views on this.
I see your logic, decent digging also, but a better link could have been Lee Bowyer as manager based on info from Wikipedia beneath:
Tindall showed early promise, playing for noted east London youth side Senrab F.C., a club founded in 1961 by his father, Jimmy.[1] Jason Tindall played in midfield with Lee Bowyer, and later joined Arsenal's youth set-up but suffered from knee issues.[1]
It's possile that Tindall does know John Terry, and also Bettis knows John Terry, I refuse to call him JT, and maybe this is where the Terry link has come from. It may well transpire that John Terry is on the shortlist, but I would imagne they'll be other candidates we don't know of also. Terry and Tindall are three years apart in age and may well not even know each other closely. I think Tindall was appointed because the Club knew that the backroom staff of Wilder are going to be on their way also, which has now happened, and that Knilly is obviously a link to Wilder also and maybe they wanted another voice rather than continuing with stong connections to the Wilder regime.
Cronyism definitely exists in football as it does in all walks of life but I would guess from the head hunting of Alexander Blessin that United have done their homework and identified people who have suceeded as a manager, even if that's on a short term, have worked on a budget and are open to working with transfer markets outside of a domestic one.
John Terry has no managerial experience, has no experience of working with any recruitment and obviously no experince at working with a budget. If we do go for Terry than the board are taking a huge gamble and I just can't see there been much in it. I maybe wrong, but I think Blessin is the man they're after, if that fails then I would then expect to see other names from abroad ome to the fore, or managers who've worked abroad before, or are foreign and currently working here. That's just my personal view though, maybe we'll appoint Mark Hughes!
The link to Terry mentioned we wanted a big name, as I've said on another post Blessin isn't a big name so I'm doubtful of the links to Terry have much to them and none of the local press have mentioned John Terry; Yorkshire Live even said that there was no substance to the rumours. It came from the Mirror and I suspect that it was said because it would be a headline, sells newspapers/people will read an article that has John Terry's name to it. If it had come from a local source I'd be worried.
