Chaps,

Just released. Worth a punt on short term contract? Our previous style never suited. Should be decent in this div.

great striker of the ball.. a lot of beatties goals came from him.. i was mad as sh*t when he left. i'd love to see him back

would love him back but would think wages and the fact we are in League 1 would mean we don't have a chance

he was never given a chance by Blackwell same with Dyer didn't fit in with style of play

If he has been released he will have had a pay off. Therefore we could pay less for this season surely. That is if he wants to play football

didn't make enough tackles apparently :) perhaps bootwell didn't realise he was a forward

He was wank

Because he didn't kick the ball (and opponenets) reet high and reet hard like the manager of the time wanted everyone to do ?
Cotterill is class and under a good manager with football playing colleagues in Div 1 would be fantastic.

Under Blackwell I rated him because he was our only player who could dribble and cross. But now we have a manager who prefers to use ball players, I genuinely don't think he'd be much more productive than what we already have. And he will always be massively frustrating no matter who is managing him.

Didnt rate him either, seemed to be able to beat a man then lost the plot. Think we can do better than him personally.

ASk Beattie who supplied him with most assists when he was here before.

Typical winger, brilliant one game then drifts out of it for half a dozen. I'd certainly like to see him in this team under this manager but worth a contract ?, depends on what terms. I suspect there'll be other offers higher up because at his best he's a decent player if someone can get the best out of him.

Used to get one cross a game in the box and if the full back hit him hard early doors he diss appeared

Agree that he didn't fit in under Blackwell. After Tonge left we had poor distribution from midfield, and it was also a big problem that Cotterill was the only "flair" player in the team. He rarely played with Ward and not at all (I think) with Camara, meaning that teams only needed to double up on Cotterill, the one player who tried to beat a man, and then they'd pretty much stopped us from creating from open play.

I don't think anyone will deny that he was poor when he had off days, but I think tactics and team composing were so poor back then that it's unfair to judge him. We didn't see him fail in a balanced team.

At his best I think he was brilliant. His best match may have been the home cup game against Hull, where he played like Stanley Matthews, running circles around Dawson. It would be interesting to see how he'd do in our current side.

I thought his best form was when Blackwell took over from Robson and we had a storming end to the season narrowly missing out on the play-offs. The next season saw a complete change in style of play and he didn't fit in, mind, he did have a few decent games that season. Think I still have a video of his penalty v Cardiff somewhere.

I think he'd be a great addition to our side now. I'd have him back.

In this league worth a punt.

Too inconsistent while he was here but certainly has flair about him on his day and can deliver a decent cross sometimes.

The trouble was that some weeks he played like Stanley Ogden. He was woefully inconsistent, perhaps down to tactics, perhaps down to bottle........

Agree he would be a great signing but we really need to stop going back to old players to solve new problems. Realisticially I don't think he will come but he would scare the shit out of most teams at this level.

I think with an arm round him to gee his confidence instead of a bollocking he would be a great asset at the club. I couldn't believe we let him go
