I'm going corporate Saturday for the first time.

Anyone got any experience of such stuff?

I'm an old Kop lad (when it was standing that is). Been on John Street since it opened.

I'm unsure whether i'll enjoy the experience or not!

:)

I've done it once away at Bolton when it was the old first division, Enjoyed pre match but didn't enjoy it during the match as i had to stay in the inside the box and watch the match through the window cos i wouldn't have been able to see if they had transfered me from my wheelchair to a normal seat.

I'd rather sit in the stand with the fan and experience the atmosphere! :)

Are you going in a box or the directors seats? I've done both and I much prefer the box. All I would say is - beware of the spring loaded seats outside the boxes! As soon as you stand up, it pings back to an upright position. To fall for it once and be left on your arse with your legs in the air is forgivable - to fall for it twice in the space of 5 minutes is just plain stupid..! :o

We're in the South Stand not one of the boxes!

Can't wear jeans either!

Tsk

I've been in the directors box with a senior manager from my work a few years back when we played West Ham. I can't say I really enjoyed it cos I had to be on my best behaviour, and turning up in a suit to footy is just wrong. The worst part about it for me was when a bloke sat in the south stand shouted at Luke Chadwick when he was being subbed :
"Get off Chadwick you ugly f****er you're frightening my kids"
As I said I had to be on my best behaviour cos it was the directors box, and the company I work for sponsors the league.
I hope you enjoy it on Saturday SF I'm sure a resounding Blades win will ensure it.

I watched a game v Derby from behind the glass in the Millenium Suite a couple of seasons back. Was all a bit surreal, the crowd noises were piped in through a 'sound system' & because of this were muffled. I felt quite detached from it all. Might as well have been watching it on telly.

I went in the South Stand director's box for the Wolves game a couple of years ago. The meal before hand was very nice indeed and the view from the seats were great. I have a cheesy photo of myself, my dad and mate and Ams having our snap. Very nice.

Oh and you're right about no jeans. This was a problem for me as I hadn't packed anything other than the jeans I was wearing so I had to rush to M&S to buy a pair of 'slacks' and borrow a pair of my dad's shoes.

Great day though.

It's ok in the boxes, just not much atmosphere, but its nice and warm if its a winter game.

It's like watching it in a semi-posh pub really, apart from their family and friends and some injured players are in the end bit.

Oh and Tony Agana does the pre match and half time entertainment.

I've not been wined and dined at BDTBL but I got an invite to see Villa v Blades a while back, 1-1 night game, early 90's. I was a bit puzzled at first when we were in the box the owner gave me a gin and tonic in a tea cup, it seems a few weeks before they had been having a drink when there was a knock at the door and plod enters and arrests my hosts leaving their guests somewhat bemused and on their own - apparently they had been spotted through the cctv with cans of lager.

On the same subject i have been in a private box at wolves twice i think.... i am now banned lol, got a bit excited when derby beat them once.

I've done south stand corporate - it was for Simon Tracey's testimonial. There was a programme on your seat at the table as you arrived, along with team sheets as they were available. You have your posh meal before, and then there is an announcement that you may take your seats if you wish and you go up and you are guided to your seats.

You can pre-order drinks for half-time if you wish at the bar. At half-time there is an option of soup available (or there was then anyway). There will be an announcement that the second half is about to start.

After the game you again go back to Platinum Suite where you can drink if you wish, or leave.

I think they usually have an ex-player being the compare, and they may make a speech. I really enjoyed it when I went, although I don't think I could do with every week. You have to try and stay tight lipped when you get pissed off with the team or the referee!!

You really need to start behaving yourself at your age!

:D:D:D

Apparently the box I'm in you can wear jeans but not trainers. I'm gonna wear smart casual to be safe. My first time as well. Got to get my tickets from executive entrance. Drink is provided but not food. I'm assuming we're on John St. Would that be right?
Good luck and enjoy Silverfox.

Depends if it's an outside or an inside box!!!

Used to go corporate once a season through a company that did some work for us. Box in the John Street. Had to wear trousers and shoes.
There was a programme each and somebody from the bookies came round to take your bets. The pre-match meal was very good and drinks were brought to the box by waitresses. The guy who was in charge of the company who sponsored our box had to keep signing for the drinks so I presume they were billed separately for those.Tea and coffee were free and the facilities were there to make your own in a little kitchen area.Sky Sports was on in a telly in the room so you could watch the build up and all the scores coming in at half time.
When the match started they shut the curtains so you had to go and take your seat to watch the match. When half time came we went back in the box to watch Sky and there was a pint waiting for me (nice touch). After the match we had another pint in the box and watched the results come in and talked about the match then off.
I enjoyed it very much but I wouldn't want to do it every match. I would much prefer to have a few pints in the pub with mates before the match and sit in the veal cart that is known as the Kop with my mates.

Looks like I am with you on Sat Steve.... Aren't you a lucky boy.

You may all see me in the lion in my suit for one ;)

There's sum reight uns in there so be carefull !

I once saw a woman knock an owd bloke over to get to the last sticky toffee pudding .......... more voilence in there than on the kop early 70's.....

yer will spot her a mile off .... Jimmy Choo's an a fat arse ! :D

She'll be wi a good looking yung bloke.

I have been in one of the boxes on John Street, against Palace around 1998-ish. My boss at the time had two seats in it, and the rest were owned by Philip Wood, who was involved in the comedy "takeover" with Carlo Colombotti. It's a nice change, but I'd rather be on the Kop. Having to wear a suit wasn't a problem, I used to wear them for work, but not being able to shout and swear was bloody awful.

Ive been corporate many times in the South Stand, The meals have always been fantastic, with nothing to complain about.

If your host is one of the sponsors then you will get a goody bag with stuff in it, team sheet, tour, and see the players afterwards for MOTM award.

Always been a good day out, you should enjoy it

I was there for that one. It was when I worked for Hallam and they sponsored it. You didn't work for Hallam too did you..?

Nah.

My dad's mate and Simon Tracey's dad are mates, so we said we'd to corporate or that and spend some time with him 'cos don't see him often.

Was a good day!

We tried the hotel bar too.....very nice, impressed our Watford guests.

Food was good in the Platinum.....people not as bad as I expected.

We had a few drinks after the match and we were asked to leave after a while, they were setting up for a wedding by the look of it.

We were the last out and went to the pub after.....as drunks do!

I lost my programme!

I'm sure we will do it again though!

:)
