Not put a foot wrong thus far. SUPERRR COOOOPER....

Has he made a save yet?

Don’t know if it’s coincedence but since Cooper has played the defence has gone up a few notches. We don’t look like conceding at all.

Wes was a great shot stopper but poor at decision making knowing when to come off his line and poor distribution when the ball was passed to his feet.

However Cooper is so calm and comfortable receiving passes to either his left or right foot. This makes such a massive difference to the defence.

Was he having a kip in the 2nd half when he sat down? Had bugger all to do.

Jury still out for me believe it or not. Despite his obvious calmness and better on the ball. He haven’t had a great save to make yet to keep us winning. Not complaining but he has been superbly protected

I’m not knocking him. I think we are used to having such bad goalies we think he’s David seaman !

Always said this being in and around football. Having a top keeper makes that back line solid. Gives them confidence to take necessary risk to drive forward, keeper is only man on the pitch who can see whole pitch so the constant director snd commander of his defence. Thus far I've rated him, happy to receive the ball and make himself known.

His handling/catching technique is brilliant. That's another source of the confidence he instils

His long kicking is a bit sketchy but his distribution was excellent today. Claimed a few crosses. Can't say much more given Derby didn't have a single shot on target.

He’s done well when he has had to. Not really put a foot wrong.

But let’s face it. The clean sheets stats are down to the lads in front of him who have been outstanding.

UTB
2 mistakes in total, iirc. One v Leeds and another on Saturday v Stoke, but both went unpunished. I'm comfortable with that, given his age and experience. He'll have a clanger at some point, but he has been really good. My heart rate doesn't increase at all when he has the ball, or when it goes near him. Hasn't happened since 18/19 (Even Hendo was prone after that)

Best back five in the championship bar none. Cooper is calm which is excellent attribute for a goalie - the Souttar and Anel pairing though so far this season could not have gone better, both are intercepting the ball like Prem CB's.

Couldn't agree more,! The frustrating thing is all 3 of our banned players are picking up silly bookings .
Wilder says bookings happen due to the competitive situations and tackling which are part of he game! that's true ! but all 3 have picked up at least one booking due to petty things which we have to cut out.
All 3 will hit the 10 booking mark this season even if they cut out the silly bookings. The last thing we want is hitting the 3 match ban point ( 15 bookings) in the run in.
Wilder must be impressing this on the players without taking fire out of there bellies.

Someone ( not me ) should be able to come up with a song for him to the tune of ABBA Super trooper

Super cooper
Blades have come to find you

Superbly protected by a defence that lacked confidence in Grbic. No worries now.

It’s chicken and egg. A keeper will always look better behind a good defence, but a defence will only look good if they have confidence in the keeper behind them.
I think they get benefits from playing together, but Cooper being the last line breeds greater confidence in them individually and collectively.
Sousa playing well adds to that confidence too.

Agree that he makes the whole defence look better because they don't have that air of panic that if the ball gets beyond them it's usually going in the net.

I think the Leeds and Boro matches would both have turned into proper drubbings last season. Some tremendous saves in both of those to keep us in it, one of these days that will let us sneak a point or three on an off-day.

This lad appears to have everything you could ask of a keeper. Hopefully we can hang on to him for the next 4-5 years.

Made an error with that pass on Saturday but no keeper is immune to the odd slip up, especially in this day and age of playing out from the back. It only sticks in the mind because of how composed he’s been.

As a keeper by trade, the one pillar all GK's need to succeed are solid fundamentals. Cooper has them so he looks unflustered when going for the ball.

If the fundamentals are there, then everything else (great saves, etc) are plusses but without fundamentals there is no base on which to build you own GK personna.

He is going to be an excellent GK with superb fundamentals.

He is a good keeper for sure. Not sure he is a great one . When he wins us a few games with some worldly saves I could change my mind! He hasn’t won us a game yet . The like of Kelly and Tracy did a number times!

If we don’t go up this season he will move to a prem club without a doubt ….

Especially if he keeps his levels up….

Future England player for me

Sorry mate. I can only listen to The Crab when it comes to fundamentals of goalkeeping.
