I love the FA Cup and understand the theory that momentum breeds momentum...

But, do we put a lot of academy players out for the Cardiff game if we haven't brought many in and hope for the best but not cry about it if we go out?

I just think Davies/Peck/o'hare/Anel etc need time. I'd send them off to carribean toneet for a week!!!

Can also give the returning players another fortnight's recovery time.
 

Absolutely. We're fucked at the minute, had a few scares with Hamer and Burrows, everyone needs a rest. Hopefully we can come back against Norwich well rested with a few through the door and a few back from injury.
 
Almost full rotation. Maybe go five at the back to jam all of RND, McCallum, Baptiste and Curtis in along with Robbo, Boyes to get minutes off the bench, go with three in centre mid from the U18 level (not ideal, but this is the position where we're hurting most and at least if you bring them in all together, they should have some understanding between themselves), then One and Marsh up top. If we lose, don't give a shit

I would Mcullum start, Norrington Davies, Adam Davies. Maybe Brooks again get him match fitness. If there’s any coming back from injury that need a game.

One to start again, Brewster for some minutes too.

It’s not like it’s a complete waste of a game. We would have a chance but equally wouldn’t mind us crashing out.

Curtis is cup tied
 

Get the kids out, non of the first team, we need to treat this as a winter break 100%
 
A lot of squad rotation for Cardiff, also a chance to get some of our young players in the shop window for loan deals but there are some players who could do with some minutes.

I put Freckleton at CB (even though I think he will get another loan) but I'm not sure if he's cup tied or not.

Brooks and Peck are in italics as I would rather not play them, especially given the amount of games Peck has played recently, but with a lack of depth in midfield and on the wings, we don't have anyone else in those positions.

For example if we brought Choudhury in before Cardiff, I would play him and give Peck and Blacker 45 minutes each, if we signed BBD I would give both Brooks and BBD 45 minutes each.

I love a cup run, but think we have to be fielding the kids for this. Also, on another note why on earth are Cardiff nearly 4/1 to win?!

With Captain Blade in the net. I would love us to have a real go with the FA Cup under different circumstances with this full strength squad but thats what we dont have at the moment and would rather bow out. Just be our luck we go and win at Cardiff. :D
 
Ooh no. Let’s get knocked out at the first attempt in the League Cup and The FA Cup because because because. Ooh and let’s not get promoted because we might lose every week. Etc etc. ad infinitum. Or let’s be brave and go for it in every game.
 
Well most of the bodies we’ve missed wont be back anyway.

But if Shackleton is fit he needs to play as does RND.

Only other players I reckon should play who’ve been playing recently are One, McCullum and maybe Brewster and Brooks.

It might be a disaster defensively but we cannot risk our current CB pairing. May look at Baptiste in there with perhaps Frecklington if he’s not cup tied.
Midfield will also be interesting…have we got any more lads like Peck to come in?

Fuck off to Dubai for a nice well earned mini winter break for the lads. Come back rested ready for the Norwich match.
 
We should try to win but we have to give some players a break, particularly Peck and Tom Davies who have both played far more recently than they will have been expecting to. Adam Davies and Norrington-Davies should probably both start for Welsh reasons and to keep them match sharp (not that Cooper needs a rest), McCallum should be left back to give Burrows a break, and makes sense to give Baptiste a proper game too. Rest of the team depends on who else is available, if anyone who has been out is fit, give them an hour, start One and Brewster up top and give Marsh a good run out either from the start or as a sub. We're normally crap after a break from playing so not sure why everyone is so keen to give them all a couple of weeks off.

Agreed, but even if we rested players in the league to focus on winning the cup we just aren’t good enough right now to win it.

Add to that the players that are actually fit enough to play are running on fumes right now. It would be lunacy to not take the opportunity to rest them all.
 
Many of the players we'd usually want a look at in cup games have played and will play plenty in the league. That plus our absolute lack of need for more games means I'd be more comfortable than usual with getting knocked TF out

If we don’t win the FA Cup this year it will be more than 100 years since we’ve won a major trophy so we have to go for it don’t we 🤔….erm, no
