Howard 6/10: Drops marks from his two great stops in the first half for dragging his hand away from the first and taking ages to get down for the second. Disappointing.
Harris 5/10: Gave their winger far too much space and time
Brayford 6.5/10: Was having a good game, out of position. Good block when he got the knock
McEverley 8/10: Got stuck in. Thought he had a decent game
Freeman 6.5/10: Again, too much space, took his goal well.
Basham 8/10 (midfield) 7/10 (CB): He was good all night. Looked to be bossing the midfield if not for some shit shooting from distance
Holt 3/10: Anonymous
Coutts 5/10: He tries to get involved, but doesn't get into areas where he can actually get involved. Poor game
Murphy 7.5/10: Had the better of their defence at times until they did the 'Murphy double' on him
Flynn 7.5/10: Did well (and you don't often see me putting that). Grafted and showed to be a threat
Davies 6/10: Can't do it on his own, as we saw

Scougall 5/10: The difference in presence in midfield between him and Basham was the key setback. Doyle a better choice
Done 9/10: Fucking love him. Runs at them and makes them work. Why, Clough? Why?
Doyle - would have made more impact if used earlier

Clough 6/10: You can't carve sculptures with cheap chisels

Crowd 8/10: Good noise

Ref: 1/10: Cunt.

Brayford 6.5??? Good block??? Bottled it more like that's why he got the knock trying to dance out the way while side footing the ball away!! Davies 5 for me can't finish to save his life absolute dog shit of a finisher. Target man yes goal scorer NO. Agree with rest

Howard - 6. Good save from pen. Piss poor for their 2 goals
Harris - 5. Poor but early booking hampered him
Bradford. 6. Right back at centre half
Mceverley - 7. Did well but soooo slow.
Freeman. - 7. Good going forward. Not the greatest defender.
Basham - 7. Did well in the centre.
Holt - 3. Did he play???
Coutts - 3 see holt.
Murphy - 7.5. Good first half. Needed to keep pushing at right back.
Flynn - 7.5 best player second half (except Done). Should have passed on 2 occasions having made good runs.
Davies - 5. Chased down well. Working hard should be a given tho. Not a goal scorer.

Done - 9. Awesome. Must have an injury, otherwise WTF???
Scougall - see Holt.
Doyle - should gave been on at half time.

About right. 2 differences for me;

McEverley - defensively good but poor on the ball - over plays it and often puts us in trouble.

Clough - You should have done better than to polish a turd with such expensive cloths.

MC Eveley is useless, failed to pick his man up for the goal, never won a header and rarely put in a good challenge.Harris exposed time after time by their danger man gave away the penalty and was at fault for the injury time winner. We can't keep clean sheets, can't defend set pieces and continue to play players out of position.Clough must take responsibility for the Centre half debacle.
Bright spot, Matt Done

Cant argue with that although I would give Davies and Freeman another point and take one off Harris and Murphy.

Howard 6

Freeman 6
McEvely 5
Brayford 6
Harris 3

Flynn 7
Holt 4
Coutts 4
Basham 8 then 6
Murphy 6

Davies 5

Agree with that except McEveley was done for pace several times - no more than a 6.( Brayford injured trying to get back to bale him out). Scougall only just a 4 and I would dob one off Harris for giving away the penalty, getting booked and giving their WB so much room. Clough no more than a 4 because of the negative impact of his substitutions and not setting the team out to combat 3 5 2 better. Their WB's had a field day.

Agree with yuley about brayford caused his own injury by neshing it

Can't agree there. If you watch again Bray was running full speed and if he'd whacked the ball it would have ricoched on either the forward, our defender or Howard and could well have ended up in the net. The only option was to flick it away. It landed at the feet of the attacker but it was the only option he had. Unfortunately he got injured in the proces but that was just an accidental clash of knees (which I can tell you from personal experience is VERY painful).

Said it before on other threads tonight, you can't play Holt and Scougall in the same side, two tiny lightweight players. Holt has at least scored in recent games, but for me, they are not good enough.

Also, like I have said in previous months, when SWFC pipped us for second place and got out of League One, they only had three players (regular first team players) under six feet tall. Without Basham in midfield, only Coutts has any height. With Doyle, Holt, Scougall, no height, no winning the ball in the air, and for Scougall and Holt in particular, no size of strength and opposition players running straight through us.

Holt was poor and should be dropped for Monday.
I am not a Steve Davies "fan" but I thought he did his job well tonight. Agree he is not a goal scorer though and thus needs to play alongside one. As we need to go for it Monday, and assuming both are fully fit, it is time to see McNulty and Done paired up top together as this is a recipe for goals IF service is decent.
McEverley battled well enough but his distribution is shocking.
Coutts did OK but had NO help from Holt all night and their number 8 had a field day. Was in charge of the key midfield area for most of the night. Very good player on performance last night. Sign him up !!

Mceverly 1/10 worst performance from any centre back in the last 25 years, Coutts, 0/10 didn't even know he was playing.

Agree with them pommpey intrestingly that you criticise both full backs for standing off their men, I have said it about our full backs all season. Give the opposition wingers way to much time and space and rarely block a cross, in crontrast to how opposition teams double up on Murphy. It's one of our weak points tactically imo.

I'm going to points for the team as a whole

Team (6) good start and finish poor middle after taking the lead.
NC (4) wrong tactics on substitution.
Ref( -1) ###^*#%.
Fans (8) loud and proud most of the time.

Not read every post here but I can't see that this thread makes a lot of sense.

If the ref does his job, especially on the Flynn penalty and sending off, then chances are we win 2-1, 3-1, 3-2 or something and all of a sudden without actually playing better, mistakes are forgiven, positives focussed on, and everyone's rating jumps 2 points at least.

Without doing any different a player's score jumps from a 6 to an 8.

The result was disappointing and Swindon did dominate with fast incisive football for a fair period of the game but the ref does his job and we win, and possibly win comfortably.

The players gave everything on Thursday.

Fwiw I generally gave them 8s - with the odd 7, bc sometimes it's not your day. Done a 9 - which makes a Spinal Tap 11 if we'd've won.

I agree in principle WHF, i think Clough could have done a few things differently but the players put an hell of a shift in. What pisses me off though is that if we put that effort in only most of the season we perhaps wouldn't need the lottery of the playoffs. Oh well, lets get at em again on Monday and take em to the cleaners.

I agree on the effort to some extent but playing at your limit like that has consequences, and two injuries is about par for the course. Unsustainable, even with our alleged Cecil B DeMille cast of thousands, especially with the Saturday, Tuesday run we've had since the New Year.

(That said, basically I agree, though I do think the players give a lot, but just not in obvious ways.)

If we are going to win on Monday we might be putting out a bandages and crutches Battlefield Veterans XI at Wembley.
