West Brom
Middlesboro
Stoke
Swansea
Brentford
Villa

Us, Leeds, Derby, Forest and Wendy miss out.
Us with a last minute penalty in the final game probably, given by a ref who several years later is jailed for being part of an illegal betting syndicate

Well I'm going to say it anyway.

I think we have a half decent chance at this, WBA do look good, but who knows with injuries, a run of bad form and so on. We came unstuck when Coutts was injured last season, had he not been out, who knows what may have happened. CW isn't in this for his pension, he wants the Big Time, and if he gets that chance, will strengthen the squad with some new blood.

Boro', Villa, Swansea, Stoke all look ill at ease in the Championship, Leeds, Brentford will fall away like they usually do.

I do think we need another striker, as an impact player...………………….. perhaps we should make a bid for Brooks at Bournemouth, he looks like he has something about him!

One minor criticism of Wilder is that we've never won an away match at a top six side.

2016-17

Bolton 1-0 Blades
Millwall 2-1 Blades
Scunthorpe 2-2 Blades
Fleetwood 1-1 Blades
Bradford 3-3 Blades

2017-18

Middlesbrough 1-0 Blades
Cardiff 2-0 Blades
Aston Villa 2-2 Blades
Derby 1-1 Blades
Wolves 3-0 Blades
Fulham 3-0 Blades

2018-19

*Middlesbrough 3-0 Blades

It'll be interesting to see how we get on at Derby next week.

*Boro are the only team we've played away this season who are likely to finish in the top six

Forget Wednesday. My piggy son just rang me and said Bannan got groin injury. Bannan has said it feels the same as last seasons injury where he was out for months. Don't want to wish the guy any ill's but........yippppeeeeee!:):):):):):):):):):):):)

Probably the only ones where we definitely deserved NOTHING were wolves and Fulham where we were completely outclassed and the match at Cardiff where we were overun. Perhaps Millwall was also a deserved defeat despite a brilliant goal from Brooks.
Of the others we should have got a draw at Boro with an unfairly last minute disallowed goal
Didnt we have 10 men at Scunny but still got a deserved draw and I dont know how we didnt win at Bolton Fleetwood and Bradford.
Lets hope this is the season when we do it !

Jeez.....there is some guff spoken on here. Of course there are no givens, but based on the most basic of basics, does anyone believe that Wilder and Knill will tolerate any player thinking of anything less than winning the next game??

Wilder's made it perfectly clear that all that matters is the next game, no other consideration, just making sure that every player is reminded of their role, the individual and collective duties that will make the team effective and capable of beating their opponents, ensuring that the Blades impose themselves regardless of who they play.

Of course we have it within us to achieve promotion, but so much depends on whether we avoid serious injuries, suspensions, and whether any incoming players can have the same impact as an Egan, Henderson, or Norwood. A long, long way to go, but are we good enough? You betcha!! UTMB!!!

Brooks didn't score against Millwall. Scougall did.

You're thinking of the match from last season.

Absolutely spot on

Contenders?

The ONLY reason we didn't finish in the top six last season was the Friday evening in Burton. Fulham, due to their very slow start would have gone up auto, but would have beaten anyone in the playoffs.

This season we are better, much better and with an added depth to the squad.

I'd say the four players that have come in Henderson, Egan, Norwood and McGoldrick are easily TOP 6 players in any team in this division

Both Basham and O'Connell are better players than last season.

Freeman (who we desperately missed last season) and Stevens are two of the best wide players in this division - they've stepped up.

Fleck & Duffy have carried on with the high standards they set last season.

Billy too has stepped up too - great to see, considering a lot of our fans were questioning the forwards in pre-season.

and then there is the returning Coutts, plus other good squad players who can all play their part.

Our "A" team can win this division and with good management and of course a touch of good fortune, but there's no reason to fear anyone.

We are more than contenders this season and we have the best manager in this division bar non and that includes the fantastic Bielsa at Leeds, because it's the English Championship, not the world cup.

We've sold out quickly at Derby, because the fans realise it's shaping up like L1.

Come on - have a little faith.
