Jesus he was bad tonight. Early days, but can't see what type of striker he is. Looked like a Sunday league player who'd got the opportunity to play for a pro side. Hopefully just a one off poor performance, but I think he's guaranteed Sharp starting the next 5 games.

Maybe, but he still offered more than Leon...

I thought him and Johnson looked really, really poor but I’m not getting too worried as most of the others were tonight.

Can’t fault any of the 4 strikers tonight. They were feeding off piss poor passes/crosses. Never looked like scoring

I can see your point and the midfield should share the blame, but I can't help feeling they'd get the ball more often if their movement was better and they took up better positions. Leon tonight was as static as I've ever seen him.

I think it’s so difficult when the opposition play with 11 behind the ball when they don’t have possession. It makes it more compact with less room to move into. Personally I thought Washington was far less mobile but in fairness Birmingham defended well in numbers and if we thought we were hard done to Saturday then we got out of jail tonight

Really.

But I'm cognisant that it's the equivalent of saying I'll take a kick in the balls over a punch in the face...

If either/both are the answer, then I'm confused as to the question...
Ever so sorry to hear that you're cognisant pal but there's good support out there, all the best mate

He was anonymous at best, poor at worst but it's early days for the lad. Still think his pace will come in handy this season.

Well, at least Wilder's not touched the Brooks money. The equanimity that comes from the thought of all that lovely spondulicks nestling cosily in Uncle Kev's vault, more than makes up for the indignity of having to watch overweight Sunday league players a-huffing and a-puffing all over the Desso.

I hope it was nerves or a one off because genuinely...

...he looked less like a professional footballer than either Connor Sammon or Jonathan Hunt, and I never thought I would say that about anyone in a Blades shirt.

Felt almost embarrassed for him.

Only just realised that Johnson was playing and not Stevens after reading this thread haha. I thought the number was odd but never questioned it. Was saying Enda all night, good and bad.

At least i know he's no worse, just exactly the same. (cough, poor)

They were all bad. Going off last nights performaces, Norwood wouldn’t be near the team Saturday either

I do not understand why the one forward who has actually scored in open play this season was dropped to make way for Conor Washington. Change for change's sake.
chris has gone a bit tinkerman on us :). he (or Alan) have developed a tendency to overthink things lately

Our strikers really do need to take up better positions at times.

Some great crosses first half with no one gambling and just hanging back. Then when we get behind the defence they're too far forward.

He is different to anything else we have, he is a shoulder of the last man striker , it's early days for him and the players who need to find him too, he will try and get in behind and currently we don't try those sorts of balls enough, but to say he was crap tonight with the scraps he had is very harsh, messi would have looked crap in a blades shirt tonight, couple of times I thought he held the ball up well, that's one complaint for me so far this season we aren't getting enough quality through balls away, it will come everyone just needs to gel, and sitting where we are after playing a few of the better sides I for one am relatively happy so far

Agreed, he didn't have a glittering game however, for me he needs more time. Players rarely gel together instantly and he just needs time to 'click' with our other strikers. His main asset is his pace, so for me he should be playing off the shoulder of his defender for balls to be slotted through for him to run on to and use his pace to beat his marker. Tonight he seemed to be playing 2-5 yards too deep, which gave time for the defenders to read the play and stop him. With the likes of Norwood, Duffy & Fleck in midfield, they should all supply the clever balls played through for him to run on to.

John Egan was awful at Middlesbrough

The one where he had a pass played to him on the touch line, ran past it, stopped, turned around, stepped back and let the ball dribble over his foot for a throw sent a cold shiver down my spine.

He wasn't great but he worked hard while being starvef of service.

To say he contributed more than Clarke however is ridiculous.
