A decent partnet for Billy and the game would have been over by Half-Time

insipid Fish

I know he had a hand in both goals but I thought Sharp was pretty poor today. But then he's been carrying the forward line by himself for weeks.

Until Done is fit he's my first choice for partnering Sharp. Don't rate Baxter and don't think McNulty and Sharp would work at all.

Even from the nearly-back of the Kop, I could see Adkins' frustration just before he substituted him. Perhaps that's one of the private conversations he will be having this week. :(

He had a poor game today, problem with Sammon is he has too many foolish moments in games, foolish moments that stand out too much.
He is very useful linking up play, he can layoff the ball well and we have seen the odd sweet finish from him. So maybe it's a confindence thing, I don't know but if we play him right he certainly can be a useful player.

Seems mental we have Sammon here and McNulty out on loan

It is however they are completely different types of strikers. Adkins had clearly hoped as had all of us that Sammon would have been the perfect foil for Sharp, unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.

On paper Mcnulty & Sharp up top would be what most fans would like however realistically it just would'nt work & I couldn't see McNulty wanting to come back here just to play second fiddle now he's got the taste of constant first team football at Pompey.

Sammon not good enough, the one we had last year - Davies - was better, more effective and would have been much cheaper. If we can send him back to Derby in January, he should be going back.

Sorry, yeah I meant it seems mental when we have a player out on loan who is scoring goals yet we are desperate for a striker. I agree that Sharp and McNulty wouldn't work. I don't think Done and Sharp work either to be honest. I have a feeling Adkins is looking at other areas of the team so I imagine we are stuck with Sammon and Done vying for a place next to Sharp for the rest of the season

Mcnulty ought to be Sharps replacement in waiting, very similar kind of player. He can stay at pompey for the rest of the season but we should have him back for next season. Sammon hasn't hit it off and he's bound to be a big earner, I'd get shut but think he may be on a season long loan ?

What an absolute sack of shite that guy is. No aggression, abysmal anticipation, no technical qualities whatsoever and his lack of aggression and laziness make sure he wastes whatever physical attributes he has. We should do everything we can to send the useless fucker back - but apparently Adkins wants to keep him!

As mentioned before, he did seem to be having a mare of a game, however we were a lot better first half than after he was taken off in the second. Perhaps him just being there and running at defences causes problems that aren't obvious. Mind you , his misses on goal are blindingly obvious......
