According to Mike Stephenson on Twitter, we have hijacked Connor Ripley's move to Oldham. What a signing this would be if we can pull it off!

He actually says rumours originating from Oldham. A bit vague as is Strappy's usual style.

This from Wikki...

'He then went out on an emergency loan to Oxford United, after both their goalkeepers had suffered injuries.[8] Ripley made his only appearance for Oxford United, in which he conceded a goal from Ryan Hall's free kick, in a 2–0 loss against Southend United the next day.[9] After this, Manager Chris Wilder was unhappy with Ripley's performance and decided to terminate his loan spell at the club'

Hmmmmmm...

hahaha. Oh well.

The rumours actually came from me. I know Mike and messaged him what I was told by someone I work with here in Manchester.

So his vagueness wasn't his fault, totally mine.
You devil! ;) I've known him a good while as well just from the various forums, a good lad even if he tends to generalise on his Twitter feed.

Anyway, it looks like it could be a decent signing if true, there's plenty of chatter now from the Oldham side, although coincidentally, they seem to be saying that it originated from this side of the Pennines.

Someone on Twitter suggesting that they have seen him down at the Lane this afternoon. They're Oldham fan as well (not sure why they'd be at our ground).

I honestly think it would be an ok signing but id much rather have an experienced keeper. If we could get him for 300000 or less id be in but considering the fact that he's only 24 and made appearances with 6 different teams, 5 of which were on loan. Also he's not very highly rated on transfermarkt so idk

Oh my days

This forum had been a transfermarkt-free zone since it had been used to value the United squad two years ago – which had Sammon as being worth two Bradley Dacks, and Che Adams valued the same as penalty abomination Andy Taylor. I thought that would have been the last of it...

A few questions for you CB:

1. How many times have you seen him play live?
2. How did you arrive at your valuation of £300k or less?
3. Why does it matter that he's played games on loan rather than for the club that holds his registration?
4. Who would you prefer to be signed instead?
5. Did you really consider transfermarket's view? Seriously? No, Seriously?

He kept more clean sheets than Moore didn't he? In a substantially worse team.
