Ha! I'd have taken an ugly Blackwell promotion to the Premiership in a heartbeat.

But we cannot pay for quick fixes anymore. It has to be long termism, hard work, and sound player development from here on in. And that has to be done in the right way - a way that can sustain success.

This will more than likely going to be up there with the Robson appointment/keeping Blackwell on after Wembley/sacking Blackwell after 2 games moments - the ones where the majority of the fans (the most important stakeholder to the club) were baffled/angered by the idea for it later to prove costly.

Not only is it the Wednesday link, which has been discussed at length on here, but also Wilson's record which is hardly sparkling. Out of all the rumoured candidates for the job he was arguably the least qualified (factoring potential into that too). Why alienate a lot of fans at a time when morale is already low? McCabe needed to nail this to get a lot of fans back on board but it seems to have failed. A very poor choice.

I don't. I wanted Coppell. I have said this consistently for some years. However:

I suspect he'll at least try to implement 'pass and move'. Proper football. The sort all the teams who actually achieve anything play.

You know, the style that took our young'uns to our first ever FA Youth Cup Final. The style that Pembo steadfastly and passionately believes in. The style that brought 30,000 to The Lane to watch a bunch of unknown kids.

Tough times ahead for the We :heart: Hoofing Brigade.
