To be fair fella, every player wants to go, if offered significantly more money.

That's the way of the world in the majority of cases but we shouldn't beg and plead with him to stay because if he does, he will only pull the same stunt again.

Really? It's taken some doing to have had such a shit midfield for the last 3 seasons then. He's very good at what he's good at, and very limited at what he isn't. I'm not up on individual players from the rest of the division, but I've regularly seen our midfield, containing "the most gifted CM in the division by a country mile" outplayed by other 3rd division midfields.

How many CMs in this divison were first team regulars in the premier league at 21? As I have said for a long time, the team he is in isn't good enough for him, not the other way around. Care to offer any alternatives to who is a better CM, and any evidence to back it up?

Look at this season already:

Notts County - K Mac scored. We made 700 passes, had 75% possession and 25 shots.
Brentford - K Mac doesn't play, 3 shots, nothing created in open play, 47% possession.

I wish I could find it, but I remember someone posting our stats with and without KMac since we signed him, and the evidence is overwhelming. I seem to remember our win ration with him was 60% and without was 40%, something like that. He will be sadly missed, and this will prove over the next few games

We would've won the league two seasons back if he hadn't got injured. Sod Ched. It was McDonalds fault

Jackett hopeful of midfielder's arrival
Kenny Jackett is hopeful of concluding a deal for Sheffield United midfielder Kevin McDonald by the middle of this week.
McDonald, 24, has been undergoing a medical with a view to a permanent move after the two clubs agreed a fee.
“It should be completed by midweek, by Wednesday,” said Jackett.
“I have liked him for a while.
“He has good stature and gives good presence and he’s a ball player.
“He’s two-footed and hopefully he will give us some goals from midfield.
“He will bring composure to our midfield with so many youngsters here.”

Just a shame he did sod all in the games when it really mattered like against MK Dons, Stevenage and Huddersfield.

The most hurtful thing for me is that I think we were finally going to see the best of Kevin McDonald in his new position. When he played well last season he played very well but for me also had hit and miss days but watching him in his new role he looked to be 50 times the player he was last season hence GUTTED!

Do you have the stats for the Burton game, which passed Kmac by?

We will be weaker without him, but we aren't good enough with him. IF we invested £750K wisely we could be be better off without him. He's good, but replaceable.

UTB

I really don't think he is replaceable, not with the amount of the fee likely to find its way into Weir's hands. And even then we're only plugging a new hole, not the ones that were already there.

We bought him for zilch when nobody else would offer him a deal. Could we really not find someone comparable with the apparent 750k? After all, we found him available for nowt in the first place.

Our recent record would suggest no, we cannot. And surely the full £750k isn't going on transfer fees?

I think that's the issue - how much will be reinvested. If we find a player that can work and tackle just a little, we don't have to have a Doyle type player alongside - ie we can have another who can pass a little. I don't think our midfield can ever be "great" with McDonald in it. That's not to say it can't easily get worse.

I have no confidence we will do anything else but replace KMac with someone already at the club.
Weir will have to work with what he has.
Probably means that only one of Long or Maguire will be gone by the end of the month.
Replacements already at the club include Howard and Higgo

This. We will probably get some overhill has been or ex Blade (for extra Blades points) on loan.

yep concur entirely.. it was KMacs hamstring that cost us.. everyone in the ground knew it as well.
say what you like but noone at this level can control the ball AT ALL never mind with either foot.. as you may realise i'm totally in the KMac fan club and will be fucking furious when he leaves
