Who really thought that we'd keep him?? Honestly??
Of course it was inevitable we would get offers for players. Only yesterday I read Blackies comments about wanting to keep our best players and rumours will always fly around when we have excellent players and we are a big club.
Why can't we play hard ball, why do we always pamper to the needs of the PL teams.
The questions remain...Does the player want to go? If not then tie him into a new deal. Do we need the money? If not then hold out for daft money!
The Player - Well the lad's a Blade so did he want to go? Probably not and we were 90 mins from PL football so surely he wasn't so dissillusioned with the club or didn't he believe we were capable of promotion
He's played 1 season of first team football. He's not yet started an U21 game or established himself at that level so potentially he's worth more, Wayne Bridge went to Man City for around 10 Mil and Glen Johnson looks to be on the way to Liverpool for 18.5 Million, neither are established full backs for England and went for a lot more than 4, 5 or 6 million
The Money - Apparently we've been putting together around 5 million of transfers, incidentally this is the same amount of money that was reinvested in the club through other ventures.
So were not exactly hard up! So why did we rush to sell?!?
