Gutted for the lad really. Showed a bit of promise when he first made his debut. Never really kicked on.

Appreciate the sentiment and feel the same FOR him.

However, I think he's had a fair crack of the whip and proved not to be good enough really. If we have to lose players I am more than happy when they are not integral to the team.
Absolutely. In the current financial climate too we can't afford to carry fringe players who clearly aren't good enough.

They seemed to like him down there but he really didn't grasp his chances with us.

Shame, thought he looked like he might be a decent player at this level. Not sure if we've played him in his best position for the most part but obviously not in DWs plans.

Philliskirk next I suspect.

But he was more effective than Philliskirk, Chappel, McFazdean and Tonne - what does it say for those fellers?

McFadzean is only 18 and his time will come, an appropriate loan out might help.

Agree with Philliskirk, Chappell and Tonne but I think they will be on their way come the end of the season.

Callum has a lot of potential though and must be kept and developed.

i agree also think it leaves us a bit thin it that position, K Mc picks up injuries easily.

Seems a sensible sale to be honest.
Hardly pulled up any trees, wages off the bill.

Moves Whitehouse up the pecking order and allows us to bring in someone else in a position that is more required.

I think he's a box to box man by nature, but although he hasn't had many chances he's looked to lack technique, composure and knowhow to be the forward force that such a role requires, certainly in a top two side. He did ok in Doyle's holding role (we kept our good defensive record) and I believe that's the role he played and will play at Shrewsbury.

Playing him in wide midfield proved to be a mistake that played a part in us taking so long to find some sort of attacking rhythm this season.

It was right for him to go. Tonne, Philliskirk and Chappell will follow, I expect (and encourage).

We were seriously light in central midfield players, we're even more so now. No pressure at all on McDonald or Doyle.

One things for sure we really could use another central midfield player, i personally wouldn't mind howard returning, i dont think it will happen and i'll probably get slated for saying it but i think he could fit into wilsons style of play quite well andwould at least provide some sort of competition for places.

I think it would be better to recall Matt Harriott. Doyle would be the only tough tackling midfielder though, and we should maybe look for someone to add a bit of height and strength to our midfield. Any suggestions?

Ryan Shawcross??

I've already said that almost word for word on the Williamson thread re. Howard so think I've taken the slating for you!

With our style of play now I think he'd score a fair few and be ideal cover for McDonald.

So you did, sorry only just spotted it but cheers for taking the shit storm ;-)

Well this will underwhelm you all, but...Bury captain Steven Schumacher. 28, 6 feet tall, a fierce competitor, a leader and a pretty regular goal scorer (7 this season in a poor, poor team). Realistic and affordable. Even rubbish teams have the odd player worth looking at!

Anyone seen much of him?

Not bothered at all the invisible man has gone. We looked like we had ten men when he played. Still all the best to him.

Is Blackwell playing him on the left wing ?

Now macker has gone, and Porter looks like he could be going too, coffee gone back, cresswell getting little game time, and Hill stepping up his game if he does'nt play williams/westlake.Who are people going to use as a scape goat ? My moneys on doyle

he's been a bit rubbish. but the worry is we don't sign a replacement, which would leave us in a major hole when someone gets injured/suspended. not sure why danny wants another striker, a central midfielder is much more important surely. weve already got ginga pubes, blackers, murphs, miss marple and in a crisis old man cressers who can play up front. presuming porter goes another striker would be nice, but a cm is absolutely crucial. i'd be getting rid of porter, tonne etc and go for a real quality cm. if we havent got money left for a striker, and danny really feels we need another one, get one in on loan. he probably wouldnt be playing anyway.
