Wake me up when we sign Aloysius Singlemalt, 18 years old - that's more to my taste.

Not our fuckin midfield SotonBlade. ;)

This bloke ripped us to bits at Walsall last season and didn't go missing in the second half when we eventually decided to make a contest of it. If this comes off, I think it could be a decent addition to the team.

I've since been told he's more likely to be used out wide than up front. If he has pace, that that is exactly where we need it!

whats going on with all these wingers/strikers and why do we keep signing them? You're either a winger or a striker pick one for crying out loud

What the eff are we doing signing players??

Has McCabe won the euromillions or summat?

Woah.

Typical, we sign an almost unprecedented number of players in a single day and I miss it arguing about TV...

Edit: Sean McGinty

'After being sent back to Old Trafford due to a breach of discipline, McGinty had the distinction of being the last player to have his contract terminated during the reign of Alex Ferguson.[14]'

All free transfers and all young with lower wages.

Hardly big money signings and will have saved money having let Kitson and others go.

Free transfers is a lot more than we managed last season!

We aren't even in July yet and we've already done better than last seasons assortment of manky old codgers and loan signings. Maybe, just maybe Senor McCabe has seen the light!

Or Weir has said I need players and I need them now! Not on the last day of the transfer window on loan.

The signings of McGinn and McGinty on the same day reminds me of when Wednesday signed those two very similarly named Scots at once. That did not end well!

not very inspiring by the sounds (shrewsbury on loan, binned off by tranmere, greek superleague) of it but hopefully they will be miller x4. His past record was nothing to shout about

I may be wrong but i think this McGinn bloke is in my football manager team. If it is him, he cost me about £500k off Watford. And he's a central midfielder. :)

Well in other news Wolves looked to be signing Luke Murphy off Crewe.

Come on fellas, we just signed FOUR players. In June!

A few days ago we looked like we could be getting a muppet manager and never sign anybody again.
As much as i hate what the board have been doing to our club in recent years, surely we can all agree things just took a turn for the better? We may even get rid of Doyle at this rate!

That's an odd description of 3 of the players!
- "Shrewsbury on loan" - where he was very good. From one Shrew on the signing - "Quality player during his time here,it would have been very hard to tempt him here full time."
Not to mention that players DO go on loan to teams worse than their ability. Kyle Walker was excellent at Northampton before his breakthrough.
- "binned off by Tranmere" - no, he was binned off by Man U; on loan at Tranmere (went back to Man U due to being a naughty lad). He was also a 1 million pound signing from Charlton a couple of years previous.
- "Greek superleague" - well yes, but also viewed by many Walsall supporters as being a better player than Will Grigg who is interesting lots of clubs with more money than us.

I'm happy to personally announce that I've signed for sheffield united to help this club win promotion I'm excited and raring to go 1st game on sky sports against notts county also I would like to say to walsall fc and fans that you've been exceptional towards me and I'm grateful for what you've done for me I hope you get promoted alongside sheffield united but I'm now a sheffield united player and I'm raring to go #utb #uts

Despite my defence above, McGinty wasn't particularly well rated at Tranmere...

On the field he looked ok defensively but didn't look to offer too much going forward- will be interesting to see if he makes it into Sheff Utds first 11.

Looked poor and strange move for us to get him on loan. Hopefully Shef U have taken him due to his Man U heritage, as I saw nothing to suggest he's league 1 standard.

Didn't think much to him when he was here....

Mind you, he also apparently said that he didn't want to play for a shit club like Tranmere anyway! So, that may lend an edge of bitterness.

McGinn on the other hand seems to be highly regarded at Shrewsbury...

A quality ball playing midfielder, he'll do well for Sheffield United I imagine.

As stated above, with a full pre season behind him he could be a brilliant player at this level

If he didn't want to play for a shit club like Tranmere, what is he doing signing for us??

Anybody know where he can play? Does it mean he's a replacement for Maguire?

He's a left back; so presumably Williams may be on his way.

"Its been a pleasure to of been at walsall and I am grateful. I'm now raring to go with sheffield united and help this club win promotion :-)"

Just wait until Pinchy sees his tweet.

Ferkin hell four players signed in a day :) lets hope it is not a sweetener for a big outwards transfer. We should have signed these sort of players last term instead of trusting things to Dad's Army, at least if it doesn't work out they may have a resale value.

Yes indeed we should have. Whilst none of them are massively inspiring, 2 of them look like solid first team players with McGinty a bit of a gamble who could be in the team or may not be (the other kid looks like a shot in the dark and i doubt he'll get a game next season)

Yeah i would expect so then. It looks like he's signed to be backup, unless somebody else goes too. Can't see him getting in ahead of Hill or Higginbotham.

He's been mates of McDonald for years apparently, Nick Blackman too, according to his interview with Radio Sheffield. Also says he turned down some Championship clubs to sign for us.

He also says David Weir "and John Stephenson" have great plans for the club. Got to admit, had to look up who he is, must have missed his appointment as Director of Football Operations. I'm presuming he has a large say on transfers now?
