Congrats.
Kind of surprised to see you boot Adkins. But Wilder has certainly done the business with Northampton and Oxford on his route to yours. Think he builds decent solid units without spending too much.
Wonder if he has any players in mind to bring with him, either way, hope he get's the backing to rebuild at yours this summer.
Seem to think I can almost remember him playing for us (Brighton), so any ex-player of ours is a definite thumbs up from me!
Are you lot happy with this appointment?

Chuffed mate, personally.

Be even chuffeder when your lot stuff them porcine bastards on Friday.

Head of sports science (what?!) Matt Prestridge has joined too.

Good appointment it would seem, shame about Adkins, was happy when he was appointed and genuinely believed he should have been given time but suppose Wilder is here at a unique time for a blades manager, where he doesn't have to deal with a bloated squad full of shite players.

Looking forward to at least a straight talking manager that doesn't make you want headbutt a wall during interviews.

Cheers pal

Make it quick though the bohemian is after your job

Thing is, Wilder will already know the players here and he will know who is working and who is shirking
There will be a few in that squad who'll be on their bike quicker than Hammond gets pulled in a game
He has the benefit that a lot off the dross are out of contract (which Adkins didn't have). Still left with Coutts and Wallace (J) though.

To be honest, i'm a bit devastated.
Never had the opportunity to bring out the Edgar Davids thread.
Edgar was bemused that Saturday evening as his twitter following increased by over 5000.
His betting was knocked down from 100/1 to 6/1 at one point.

Good Luck Chris, let's hope you're not in the Wilderness this time next season.

You can use that line James...

At last we appoint someone with a bit of nouse ,Chris is a good man manager , served his time in the lower divisions which he will know inside out ,as does Alan knill . Welcome to our lane . Thank god old endeavours gone

Sheffield United have tempted the boss of League Two champions Northampton Town to be the new man to lead the Blades.

Chris Wilder takes over as Sheffield United manager with immediate effect, having agreed a three-year contract.

He brings with him credentials of a modern, successful manager following spells with Alfreton Town, Halifax Town, Oxford United and Northampton Town, with whom he secured the Sky Bet League Two title just last month.

Chris will be assisted by former Rotherham United defender and manager, Alan Knill, his trusted number two at Northampton.

Speaking on behalf of the club's joint owners, Kevin McCabe said: "We are delighted to appoint Chris, he has a fantastic reputation. He understands the ethos of our club and is a modern 21st century manager

"We are aware that Chris is popular with the supporters, however, this is not a sentimental appointment, he has a proven track record and is hungry to bring success to the Blades.

"He has a vision of success, knows what is required by the supporters and we will assist him as much as we can. Early talks have been positive and we look forward to a new era at Bramall Lane."

Chris needs little introduction in South Yorkshire. He is a self-confessed United fan, former Blades player and resident of the city.

He said: "A lot of supporters already know me and those who don't will soon realise that I am loyal, hard-working, straight-talking, thorough and whole-hearted in everything that I do.

"Obviously, people know my connection with the club as a supporter and former player and I want Bramall Lane to return to be an intimidating place - I don't want the players to feel it is a burden, playing in front of 20,000 fans.

"I understand the club, not just the playing side, but from the board to the Academy, including the key personnel such as Travis Binnion, John Dungworth and Mick Wadsworth, who have all enjoyed success this season.

"Alan Knill will be joining the club too, we have worked together for a long-time and he has been instrumental in the success at Northampton Town."

Chris will outline his plans and aspirations further when he and assistant Alan will meet the media on Friday.

"Early talks have been positive and we look forward to a new era at Bramall Lane". Jesus wept Kevin, we have a "new era" every 12 months with you calling the shots.

Welcome Chris, but you are a lying get!!

Told me and a mate to our faces a couple of weeks ago having a drink outside a boozer that he wouldn't consider the Blades job as he doesn't rate the Board or the way the club is run at the top.......I guess money talks and he has had assurances re budget etc. Mind you, he may have already had some conversations with KM and obviously couldn't let on.

Good luck!

On a slightly different tangent, there seems to be no coverage of this on social media by the major sports news stations such as BBC Sport, match of the Day, SSN etc... I know there was a little flash on SSN but no BREAKING NEWS story.

They do have coverage of Bristol Rovers contract agreements, Martinez sacked, Even Crewe Alexandras holiday plans. Nothing on Blades new boss or sacking Adkins :/ Not that i'm massively bothered, just thought it strange.

They have definitely acted fast, not just in sacking Adkins but also appointing a replacement.

Credit to the club for that.

it's on SSN they reported it immediately.. BBC Sport haven't reported the winner of Liege Bastogne Liege yet and that was two weeks ago .. and anyway.. when did we ever get a mention from Look North? when we reached the prem we got a passing reference from Harry G.

Welcome Chris, needs to be supported by the board and given a fair crack of the whip.

I will say it now he would not be my choice, but then again Adkins was my choice last season so what do I know.

Good luck to him, I feel he's going to need the talents of Rumplestiltskin as he is going to have to somehow spin straw into gold.

Remember him at Alfreton Town so has done his apprenticeship . Famous last words but I think we will be good for each other , and has got the job on merit , not just on previous connections . Both Forest and Charlton were after him so , that tells a story . The bloke ain't a wipper snapper , but knows the ropes without bull shit . Looking forward to good times .

Past experience , promotions , success of a manager mean jack shit at the Lane for the man in the hot revolving managers chair.

UTB

Welcome to the Lane Chris you will have a transfer kitty of £1m ................... errr once we sell Che Adams, £2m if we can manage to shift Brayford too. Until then we have some U21's who could do a job or we could bring in a few free transfers, I'm sure we will have the money in place to kick on in the JTW Love your new boss Kevin McCabe xxx

Adkins also had some rumplestiltskin qualities. He managed to put us to sleep for what felt like a hundred years.
