Didn't look like he was going to be involved much so happy to get what I assume is a decent wage off the bill. We need to bring a replacement in though as we're very short on numbers up front.

I would say that we are pretty adequately represented up front, with Porter, Cressy, Slew, Philli, Tonne & Ched (if you can count him). I would defence is a far more major concern, with only really 5 defenders, Collins, Lowton, Leccy, maguire, Parrino ready at the moment. Can't see Morgan ever coming back and then we have Ertl & Taylor.
Quite frankly I am amazed that Blackpool have bought him and we have received a fee for Boggy.

Complete and utter waste of a wage whilst he was here, convinced the main reason for his signing was to keep the Maltese toursit board happy anyway. Not sorry in the slightest to see him go.

We def need another centre half on the books until Morgs comes back - and by back, I mean some games under his belt. So probs around xmas time i'm thinking. So it would make sense to grab (don't shoot me down for this) a player on loan til January to cover this - as long as his name is not Nyron Nosworthy.

Judging from the Radio Sheffield commentary last night, both Slew and Porter were very disappointing. Philliskirk missed a sitter in the first half and was replaced at half time (though that may have been tactical).

Tønne isn't really a striker, I think the main reason he was put there last season was that the development/reserve squad were so short of forwards. From what I've read and heard, I'm also not sure Philliskirk's ideal position is up front, as he lacks the pace to be an in-behind-them-striker, and he's not really the goalgetter or physical striker type either. I think he eventually will challenge for an attacking midfield role. This leaves Porter, Cressy (who shouldn't play together imo) and Slew. And Evans, but who knows what's happening with him. A quick striker to take the pressure off Slew would be a good addition at the moment.

Philliskirk was a tactical sub last night. Edwards was quite scathing of Porter and Slew saying that last night was a chance to show the manager what they can do but both were poor - though not as poor as Mendez-Liang. I think Tonne will be pushing for a start on Saturday - if injuries are still the case for Monty, McDonald and Willo I'd be tempted to give the lad a start on the wing and push Quinny into the centre alongside Doyle
Why move Quinn though when he's been great on the left wing? Playing in the centre under Blackwell didn't work out - albeit it was in a hoof it team. But I don't agree with moving arguably our best player just to accomodate somebody else.

Ok but we have a lot of attack minded players and it is easier to change the formation to 4-5-1 than 3-5-2 as we saw last night. I don't like the idead of Cressy and Porter either but it seems as though it is DW's first choice

are you not aware that the club is (alledged) skint ? so what are we going to gain by giving players away for free when we can get a fee for them,apart from getting the wage bill down. you sound like my boss he aint got very good buisness sense either

Of course, we could always hold out for a fee, then when no one is willing to meet it, we could then pay the wages of said player to sit on bench and therefore ultimately lose out.
I get the impression your boss may have good business sense after all...

If we were to get this sorted early doors, here's hoping DW will be able to look at that extensive list of potential new signings he said he'd compiled.
Andy Reid signed permanently for Forest in the summer.
To be fair to the hairy Malteser, he has only missed one pen.

Boggy is a burden - not an asset. There is a huge difference here, he's had little impact and at 31 I'd sooner see some kids being given a chance . He can't command much of a fee really can he? Got to be £100k......£200k at best. That isn't going to affect our debt but what will is getting his wages off our bill. I'm not sure what they are - maybe 10k a week? but this is guesswork. If this is the case, getting him off the wage will save the club over £500k a year. Yeah, you're right. Poor business sense.

10k a week is a scandal, what have we had out of him a few penalties that he went down like a girl/fairy/lightweight for, fair enough we were happy with at the time but apart from that, another very poor waste of a lot of money, how many times????
