Nigel Clough has continued to shape his squad for the second-half of the season by allowing Febian Brandy to join League One rivals Walsall on-loan until the end of the season.

Brandy, who has only featured as a substitute under boss Clough, goes straight into Walsall's squad for Tuesday night's encounter with Oldham Athletic.

In total, Brandy has made 15 appearances for the Blades after signing in the summer.

Speaking on Saturday, Clough predicted transfer movement, both in and out of Bramall Lane, commenting: "We would hope to conclude some business before the game against Bradford City. We are pursuing targets."

Good riddance. They can keep him. Incidentally, I assume the same Walsall fans who booed him on New Years Day will be creaming themselves over him tonight?

On the SUFC site a few minutes ago, Brandy has returned to Walsall on a loan deal until the end of the season. My view is that it shows that young Mr Clough will not tolerate petulant behavior. A strong message to the rest of the existing squad and for potential new signings.

It is hard enough for us to get a win at the moment with a full team, we have little chance at all with only 10 men on the field.

Goodbye Mr Brandy

Can't see the sense of this at all. We are now left with two first team wingers, Flynn and Murphy. If we have a replacement lined up it'll undoubtedly be another midfield workhorse. We must now have the slowest squad in all four leagues.

I thought he was the only one offering something different, he has the ability to change a game, something with perhaps the exception of Baxter, no one else can do. I would have kept him as an impact sub, there are many others who could go out on loan before him.

Let's see who we get on loan to do the job. Can't do any less than Brandy did in the first half of the season.

A something different that brought 1 assist and 2 red cards in 15 appearances. In our position we can't rely on what players 'might' do. However justified he might feel in unhappiness at being marginalised, it's probably best we got rid of a player who might have a negative dressing room influence and so far had contributed bugger all.

Cut your nose to spite your face comes to mind.

First glimpse of poor man management from Clough possibly one of his flaws.

Oh Christ, I'll have to buy some boots it looks like I'll be needed on the bench on Saturday.

For me, no loss for the reasons stated above.

He can't be trusted, we need to find someone better who can be trusted.

He contributed one thing - missing the open goal against MK Dons probably ended up getting Weir fired a couple of weeks earlier than would otherwise have been the case.

If Clough isn't going to play him, he's no good to us, but we have to have someone in the squad who can do a decent impersonation of a winger more often than Flynn or Murphy.

Will we need another winger if Diego is getting back to fitness and his scoring ways already? 2 goals from him for the Under 21's against Coventry in a 60 minute appearance last weekend

As I alluded to in the other thread it seems our fanbase are willing to accept three years of utter dross from many of our players as they put a shift/are honest/are hardworking (delete as appropriate) but new lads who have made the odd mistake (Brandy) or have not kicked on yet (Cuvelier) should be straight out the door.

I'd like to see DeGi again, but we won't be banking on an 18yr old kid who's barley played for a year.

Hopefully he'll make appearances when we're safe and he's match-fit again. :)

Brandy has done more than make the odd mistake though. His 2 red cards in 15 apps is a bloody scandal, especially for a brand new signing. He has offered nowt.

I think its time we saw the game changing signing. If we are moving players on to get some quality then fine.

I agree but lately he has looked more like getting a red card more than creating chances even as a sub. .

A strong message alright but not one we ought to be putting out. My view is that Clough will not tolerate an ounce of flair in the squad. You lot think Diego is going to get a game and flourish under Mr Blood, Sweat and Toil...? Pffffffft..!

I agree with the move, however someone tell me what our is going to do with the 11 he puts out every week who fail him miserably. Untouchable clowns

Can someone tell me how much Febian Brandy cost the Blades, when he came to us in the Summer?

I can't remember what his transfer fee was from Walsall.

I believe he came on a two year contract, with an option for us to extend it by a further year, if he impressed?

Up the Blades!!

Started well but I'm afraid it became the law of diminishing returns with him. More interested in being a bad boy than a footballer. Shame because he had talent but lets see what comes in to replace him before having a meltdown.

His and Weir's end came with that miss against MK Dons. We would probably still have Weir now had that finish been different

One of very few in the current squad with a bit of pace and the ability to go past a man. He wasn't any worse than the rest of the everpresents under Weir and has had no chances under Clough.

When I assess players I look at what I think they can do in a well balanced team. Stupid behaviour in a rubbish defeat to Shrewsbury doesn't mean it's best for us to get rid. I hope we have someone better lined up because we have one of the slowest teams in the world and are desperate for anyone who can make us a bit more mobile.

No big loss if we get in a replacement, however I think we'll be hearing the 'he's already at the club' line trotted out anytime soon.

Our squad is looking very predictable and one dimensional at the moment, I'm hoping that the powers that be realise that relegation is still a very real possibility and that they are not totally focussing on the summer to reshape the squad.

That's all very good but shouldn't Swiss have your Av BM?
