I am getting a bit sick of hearing how £1.2m is "good business". We lose a young player not a world beater granted but one of our better players. The players we are looking at/linked with, 2 young kids on trial and a 34 yr old don't exactly fill me with confidence that Wilson will get more than a small fraction of the £1.2m to replace our top scorer with.
If the usual senario plays out I can see where a lot of fans will reach the tipping point and lose interest, we have been worse than this in our history but we always had hope and the knowledge that as a club we were striving to be better but at the moment I for one don't see this at all ............................................... we as a club are dead in the water. NO and I don't see anything improving in the near future or should I say under the present ownership the club badly needs a big change in outlook and culture.

Have you ever seen Blackman play?

We must have been on SKY this season Highbs.

This thread is epic. So much wasted energy. The mind boggles!

Maybe I should just call you cunts ............... it seems to be fashionable this week.
What's up guys does a decent truthful post hurt ??? If you can't take it don't follow the Blades.

have you ever posted anything that doesnt end up with a dig at McCabe?

i suppose McCabe hired Eileen Drury to will Webbers shot against Wigan onto the post so as to avoid a riot afterwards?

The problem with my stance is it puts me in Metal's team. Yey!

Sod that - £1M represents excellent value for our balance sheet. Thanks Kev - can I have a standing order form for Blades Revival?

:D

My own thoughts on Blackman ,are that he has potential to be a very good player and he also has the potential to be a nobody. Loads of ability and pace but a flakey attitude ,and no way is he a striker. I think he has the ability and potential to be Readings next Jimmy Kebe but thats down to Blackman and whether he decides to play for Reading or Nick Blackman.
Sad to see him go but I do understand why.

So am I fella. I haven't been this disappointed in us in years. I suppose everyone has a cliff. They've just pushed me over mine.

Expect a crescendo of pissed off posts from me over the next few weeks, then an attempt to pull away from the forum to stop me becoming a Mic. I don't like the new me either.

WWF fans will readily recognise the moment when the erstwhile good guy suddenly turns and wreaks havoc on all those people and principles he once held dear.....

.....Alco hits Bret Hart over head with chair then fells Vince McMahon with a clothesline.

Other than me knocking the club, exactly what is it that I've said that's bollocks?

UTB

The problem on here at the moment is that many people just choose to knock the club than have a structured debate. It's monotonous and boring. You're having a go at how bad Blackmans replacement will be. Blackman hasn't left yet and you're slagging his replacement off.

I've only realised today you're in the same crew as Metal and Mic etc.

"United are wank and McCabes a dick".... "Oh, what was the question again?"

Or you could wonder why someone with almost 5,000 posts which have only ever defended the inevitable sale of players, and who's taken the habitual United haters to task time and time again (there's a reason Metal had me ignore for months), is so pissed off with this sale.

I haven't slagged the replacements off. I've stated the reality that has just hit me - that if they are any good we will sell them. The panacea of a realistic wage bill from which gradual team building would occur has turned out to be just more of the same. I'm gutted.

Unfortunately mate. We're in League 1. We sell our best players. That's why people are getting excited at the thought of signing a Stevenage player (that's not gonna happen by the way).. Sign of the times sadly. How many League 1 clubs are in a position to reject a bid from a Premiership club? It's impossible. To slag the club off for selling Blackman is ridiculous. It has to be done otherwise there may not be a club.

We're gonna have to ride the storm and just hope it's not raining come may

Unfortunately we sold our best players when in the top division, we sold our best players in the Championship. we are still selling them in league one the only time we didn't sell our best players was when we hit Division 4 but maybe you weren't born then but trust me we have always took the quick buck. Really to suggest when we are down to paying wages at 65% of turnover that if we don't sell Blackman that it might be the death of Sheffield United is ridiculous ................... no it's utter utter bollocks.
If Southend can say their top scorer is NOT for sale why can't we ??? maybe we just don't have the will or fight in us to hang on to our better players.

how did huddersfield keep jordan rhodes for the last 2 seasons then? werent they a league 1 club? with a lot less fans than us? im pretty sure they could have sold him for a lot more than we would get for blackman too. but they resisted, to try to finally get out of this poxy league. christ anybody would think weve turned into alfreton the way people talk!

"We sold our best players when we were in the top divison".

I would like you to name ONE??? we only sold them when we got relegated, in January we didn't let ANY of our best players go, so stop talking out of your rear end. Mattbianco gave a perfectly reasonable and structured reason as to why we are selling players and you just spout lies to suit your point. What team in League One isn't selling their best players?? If a premier league club came in for Donaldson from Brentford, or Grabban at Bournemouth with a 7 figure bid do you think they would reject the offer? Not on your nelly!

How many players stick with one club for more than 5 years at a time anyway? The only players that do, have found their level and will never progress to a higher standard than they're at. Southend aren't being offered 1.2 million from a premier league club for their top scorer, it's a completely different situation. We never stated Blackman was available, or transfer listed him, but when a club comes in with an offer above his value (In my opinion, and I assume the club's too) we are going to snap their hands off. It isn't like he's irreplaceable!! Make a proper judgement when the window shuts, and you may see the value of us selling Blackman. (Though if we sign Messi, I'm sure it'd be McCabe's fault somehow)

was abit gutted when i heard this... but if were gonna get in three players by selling him then i think that is pretty good business by DW (depending on who he signs)

Alan Biggs on twitter admired Chezvegas for admitting they were a selling club but then said most teams are just dont admit it. Even Man Utd sold their prized assets.

Well I could start with Mick Jones or Birchenhall, don't believe me then google it pal and you will find we sold them and we soon got relegated so maybe just maybe it is you who are talking out of your arse. The offer for Blackman was accepted from both Championship and Premiership clubs so your argument that Brentford or Bournemouth would sell straight away to a premiership club really is more hot air out of your rear end. As for players sticking with clubs 5 years do me a favour last time I looked Blackman had been here a little over 5 months, no need to transfer list him or circulate his name to clubs when Kevin McCabe goes on the radio and openly says a offer has been accepted but he hopes the player stays. For a club supposedly going all out for promotion what sort of message does that send out ??? and just what makes you so confident that Blackmans replacement will be an improvement ??? Jones, Currie, Deane, Jags, Walker was any of their replacements better than they were ? ........................................no thought not !!!

I do believe that's clapper rationalisation number 1 from the first page of this thread. Has anyone said we can't keep him if he wants to go yet? If so, house!

This is good for a laugh: from today's Star

However, his immediate priority before tomorrow’s transfer deadline is trying to capture a new striker after predicting whoever “scores the most goals” will ultimately win the race for the Championship.

The team who scores most will win promotion, so our first act has been to sell our top scorer. Genius.

It's ok, the lads have been practising pens all week to see who is to become the next top scorer.

It wasn't the case last season though was it? :(

I think people need to realise that when you sell a player to a club in a higher division than we are playing in, the chances are that the replacement will not be as good as them unless you find a hidden gem from somewhere.

If another player is better than a player we've just sold, surely they would be moving higher up the leagues than us?

If we sell Blackman and bring 4 players in as rumoured, then it is the right decision for me. We have a wafer thin squad and we need depth in midfield. I think we should be looking at somebody like Wordsworth at Colchester, apparently available for £100,000-£200,00 as he is out of contract in the summer. He may be moving to Ipswich though so that would rule us out.
