The Royal families of the gulf have controled that part of the world for centuries and have as much inclination to give up their power to some wild eyed religious nutter as your average pitbull have to let a deranged poodle walk away with their favo bone.. That´s why clerics advocating a salafist rule tend to live very quietly in the region but go berserk if they move away from todays gulf society (A pit of vice in their eyes) and settle anywhere else in the world to live a more strict life among their brethren..Unfortunately the rest of the world have a tendency to be somewhat reluctant to the idea so in the end they get stuck in a loop of cultural fossilization like Al-Quaeda etc.

The Arab world invented slavery and still import Africans to work in their thousands in Saudi Arabia. 100 years of British colonialism transformed a lot of these backward countries, look how most of them have faired since we gave them back. Sick of reading apologists eye views of England.

If we even have 1/4 of MCFCs benefits then i will be a very happy man indeed.
Ive always had a soft spot for Man City. (The proper Manchester club.)
Maybe that stems from everyone calling Man U - 'United'. When they stole the name from us, with us being the first football club with united after its name. And then player links such as Brown, Vonk, Ched etc.

It may just be me that thinks this but i think the owners of City have gone about things in the right way & have given the Manchester community something back, with all the building work etc. Of course they were going to spend megabucks. They always were with their wealth.

well no, but we could quite easily get back to a top 6 championship side without him spending any of his own money. it would probably take 2 or 3 years though. weve got rid of most of our high earners already. were in a position to rebuild on our own two feet so long as we stop selling our best players, if we ever actually find any again. if we get to that level then i imagine he would get his cheque book out to get us into the premier league, to make his profit. until we get back to a decent level, i cant see him spending much on the team. which is fine by me, i just think other fans seem to be expecting silly money to be thrown around the place.
 
Anybody talking about the Saudi human rights issues needs to take a look at America imo. Don't get me wrong, i like America, but that country is just as "backward" as any arab country. But obviously its ok for America to start illegal and immoral wars for oil, lock up and torture people indefinitely without evidence or a trial, because they arent a country run by muslims. And like others point out, we don't exactly have a good track record ourselves. The guy has no influence over anything that goes on in his country, no more than McCabe could have stopped Blair sending us to war. Yeah he's a prince, but so are thousands others. It won't have much meaning as regards politics.

And you're at it again. You seem to have the idea that I and others think it 'obviously ok for America to start illegal and immoral wars....' and so on because we have made an objection to the investment of a Saudi prince. Why the hell should this follow? There is no logic to your argument at all.
 
we , like any country have people who contribute good things and people who contribute in ways that are harmful to others , as do most states, ,we have to try and see both sides of every coin, one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter, we are being narrow minded if we take one bad example and apply it to an entire nation / group . We and the USA are prtrayed as decadant westerners all of us , by a lot of far away places, thats as ignorant as we are being if we label an entire nation , over any 1 action

I didn't say he was, Bob. He's a member of the Saudi royal family. An absolute monarchy. I'm saying that you cannot make the comparison unless someone associated with the US govt. had made a 50% investment in us.

The association is enough for me. We are now associated with the Saudi royal family. I read above that it might not be what he brings to the table but rather who. I don't think one can have it both ways.

is this right if he wanted a changed of manager he would need to ask the chairman to get him to accept it because he does not own the whole club.

He's got nearly as much managerial experience as Weir.
And a slightly better track record with his Arabian success and his high placed finish in the Fantasy League.
Besides, he couldn't do much worse.
