Preston won their first match in 7 last night and that was the 3rd round game they won , which shows the cups can distract and detract from league focus , to the detrement of league position , 21 games now left with only one objective , finding a route out of this god forsaken league. Nice as a game v man utd would have been it would have put more games tightly knit together , as if they dont come along fast enough. Focus has to be winning as many of these remaining games and that alone , Our chances of winning the fa cup were minimal so one small step at a time .

We can drop say 13/15 points now and you don't do that without scoring goals.

Drop the man Infront of the back four (never score from there), go 442 and forget that hanging onto the point we start off with.
Those points won't get us up, adding two points to each point might.

we have played far too many games, 8 in the last month and 3 against prem teams where weve run our selves into the ground , with avoiding further fixture upheaval , weather permitting we can plan much better for our run in , pushing for the highest we can get now becomes the be all , and so it should be , we were never going to win the fa cup or league cup unless chelsea had 3 sent off, so we aim for the bread and butter gamesalone, and high time we didv

When are we going to stop giving away soft free kicks on the edge of the area ???

I've been asked by a few posters on here why do we need another Centre back,do i need any more reasons.We look shocking on quite a lot of set pieces,we give daft free kicks away,we don't command and there doesn't look like a leader is there.I have said this a few times now and can't stress it anymore.While Basham and McEveley have done well in general,they are prone to a lack of concentration,awareness and the nous of playing Centre back and this isn't their fault as it isn't their natural position.This isn't a knee jerk reaction,i've said it all season.

Having seen Gallagher plant one in the net several matches ago, and this one being nearer why didn't we put a player in each corner of the net, on the goal line and defend it from there?

Dress it up how you like - Last night the players out there plus the Management Team didn't have a clue how to beat Preston - they allowed Preston to dominate the match virtually from start to finish and as a helping hand gave them a free kick on the edge of the area, a penalty and a free header inside the goal area from a corner - they even gave Davis a free shot at goal in the first half with a poor poor back header which he royally screwed up by hitting the post when it was easier to score !
That bunch out there last night couldn't focus on winning - they were pathetic !
