No blood and thunder from the third tier team. We believed we could do it, we believed we would do it and we bided our time before we actually did it.

Well prepared team who simply outclassed the opposition and do you know what? Our team just knew that would be the case. Simple.

Congratulations NC and his team. Thoroughly professional performance. How good to see a United team go ahead and not go entirely defensive. We are now capable of possession football, at long last.

Not only does it show in the team but also in the fans. I can't imagine there were many Blades today who didn't feel we'd win.

Massive! Respect, thanks and congratulations to Nigel, the staff and all of the team. Without the efforts of the whole team, we would not have been so good and fresh today. No doubt it will be more fresh legs needed midweek.
Delighted! Wembley, a just reward for the efforts of everyone.

Nice try but i know i'm going to wake up to bottom of the league and out of the cup in January.
I finally knew i was dreaming when i heard the Charlton subs name. As if.

I thought we were playing to a game plan of keeping it tight first half and trying to hit on the break, using the pace of our wingers. High tempo and frenetic we let Charlton play in their half but jumped on them as soon as they tried to get forward.
Our final balls in the first half were poor by our standards. We were a little more open in the second as we got men further forward but it paid off as Charlton came onto us more.
I think that's just how Cloughie saw it panning out.

Thought we were sloppy and erratic first half and didn't have the normal shape. Second half heading for a nil- nil, the ball from Baxter (so deep) was sublime, anticipated by Flynn.

The beard just had to get the winner and did.

It's only natural for Blades to fear the worst. However, this is a new SUFC, with a plan, organisation, flexibility and no little skill. Good footballers; excellent manager. It doesn't half reduce the amount that has to be left to luck. I think we may have to readjust our expectations (for the better) with Nigel and the team he is building.

NC has achieved litte short of a miracle. Better still, there's every sign it's a sustainable, continuing miracle.

I ❤️ Him!

Great experience today, the crowd, the team all together and a game won by SU, the skilful, fit, organised football team not the brave battling underdogs.

Magnificent!

What did you reckon to Scoogs today Pinchy? Thought he was lost at times and quiet at others and many of the breaks came from Coady ( who I thought was excellent). Thought Baxter dropping deep was perhaps because of Scoogs not being quite at the races today. The change for Porter could've come earlier.

(Taking nothing away from the team performance and just being critical of a player whom I really like)

I agree Swiss. Scoogs looked a little jaded today. I think we can forgive him that. His rise to fame and favour has been staggering. There's bound to be a flat spot.

The great thing about our 'new team' is that there are several match winners. We don't depend upon a single talisman. Coady, Flynn, Scoogs, Murphy (my MoM) and The Beard to name but a few.

However I still ❤️ Scoogs just as much.

Love watching this team to be proud of. Please Sir, can I have some more?

Nice summary that, agree completely that there are many winners in the side. I'd probably say that Coady or Doyle were my Mom today, but Doyle probably shaded it with a true captains performance.

Thought despite Harry's excellent runs forward, Collins was immense today. Swept up the lot!

I also thought Collins especially first half was brilliant,as was big H,who attacked superbly with his head down runs and around the box lay-offs.
We were good value today, and no-one will fancy playing us because of our team spirit.

Nige said some of our players were overwhelmed first 20 mins with atmosphere and occasion. He has a point players like Scoooooooogs were used to playing in front of 1,500 average crowds before he came here.

Says he hopes they will be more used to it when we go to Wemberleeeeee and that our opponents are used to big crowds and big occasions.

Yes, I agree. On reflection both CBs come into MoM consideration. We shouldn't overlook the excellent Mark Howard, either!

Fuck it, I'm giving it to Cloughy!

On a side issue, That's yet another side from divisions above us that can't cope with Harry's runs! It's like he just sees a gap 6 yards in front of him and powers forward like a 16yr old playing against u12's! Time and time again he does it without warning.

Collins got him out of the shit a little today though.

ha ha Ghoochanneijhad someone just got bored and pressed lots of keys on their keyboard

I don't know how far this FA Cup run can go - one more win and it takes us into Europe as well - but what is pleasing me most about it is not that we're giantkilling left, right and centre, not that we're further than the Wednesday boys, not that we're going to Wembley ... it's the fact that SUFC fans are believing in the team again.

Aside from a brief spell in DW1's first season when we looked set to march back out of the division, the last 6 years since the Burnley Play Off defeat have been one low after another. Going to BDTBL was, some days, a chore, it was getting harder and harder to be enthusiastic. Dire football under Blackwell, the chaos of the relegation season, the inevitability that Ched would go down and the heartache that followed, the dire football of Wilson after losing his best players and the start of this season under Weir. In the space of five months, Clough and the new board have turned opinions round.

I hope we can beat Hull and make the FA Cup Final and have a shot at the Europa League. I'm a realist but the dreamer inside me is dreaming of winning the Cup as well - still a long shot though. But my Blades, our Blades, they're back. Never say die, battling and mighty, they're back. And there's a sprinkling of very good footballing talent in there too. Believe in the Blades.

As a side note, beating Hull and making the Europa League - that'd make up for a season in League 1 wouldn't it John Brayford and Conor Coady?

Difficult to get going first bit of first half. Set up nit to concede. 2nd half dominated - well done.

I would say the last thing we need next season is the Europa League UNLESS we can negotiate a season out of the JPT...

But what if it meant keeping Brayford and Coady?

A League 1 club is a hard sell. A League 1 club playing in Europe on the other hand might just swing things.

I agree with you though but when are we going to get another shot at it? I'd rather try our hands in Europe than in the JPT and the Capital One Cup to be honest.

Don't get me wrong, so would I.

Having said that, if we are in Europe, don't we enter the League cup much later on???

May never happen of course but just wouldn't the FFP Rules look ridiculous if we were enforced to limit our wage bill to 60% of next season's income?!

Aren't the thresholds for next season worked on next season's income estimates with a review in January?

OK, presumably we'd be able to allow for extra income from Europa games, but, assuming an early exit, how on earth do the regulations handle that situation. Then there's the small matter of a long F.A. Cup run and income from all the games plus two trips to Wembley, etc.etc. Would that be included in the income figure for next season? Or is it all about next season's income as I believe it is under the rules. Did the rule makers ever imagine a League 1 side would reach the .A. Cup Final and qualify for Europe?
