We have consistent shown a lack of leadership on the pitch for a long time now. Like panicked sheep at times. Where are the leaders calming things down and making sure we do the right things and the professional things when we are 2 up and coasting. That last 20 mins should have been an exercise in keep ball. Instead we leave ourselves wide open and invite the inevitable fuck up.

Pulling out of tackles, (hourihane again tonight after what happened Saturday) jogging about without a care in the world when opposition players are busting a gut to counter attack.

It wouldn't be accepted by teammates in a Sunday league team but nobody appears bothered here at the minute.

I'd rather the inside shirecliffe videos showed them having a massive punch up tomorrow but they'll all be laughing and joking with each other and it's fucking me off beyond words now. Hourihane wouldn't start another game for Utd if I was in charge. Another one who is going through the motions and isn't too bothered provided he gets a wage. He's not gunna be here in May anyway so why persist with this little burk?

Im not saying they have covered themselves in glory in thag respect as both should be showing more leadership and banging heads together if necessary but I think they could both do a job for us next season. Fact is we have lacked a few nasty bastards in our side for too long. Neither Bash or Sharp strike me as being that type. Egan couldn't lead a dog to the park. Where are the voices in the middle of the park... Hardly hear a peep out of Norwood, Hourihane, and Berge. They just drop their heads and walk back to the centre circle when we concede. I've often thought that Sharp is a great captain off the pitch, but not on it. He doesn't lead by example and he doesn't inspire his team mates in his play consistently enough. Neither is Norwood and Wilder's claims about Egan being a future captain are laughable. The only player who'd be a good captain on the pitch is Basham.

This. This is how I feel about most of that squad now. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I'm fast losing patience with this group of players. We are desperate for a clear out, but it's not going to happen in bulk, in this window or next. I think we could be talking at least 2 seasons before we have a completely different United side on the pitch.

Aside from a dodgy first 10 minutes, I thought we grew into the game and commanded the rest of the 1st half, I was actually enjoying what I was watching. At HT, even I didn't think we were capable of a monumental screw up against a team that looked done. The one time you try to have a bit of confidence and faith in your team, they still manage to shatter it and then make you feel bad for having that confidence.

This is very salty of me to say, but I just refuse to give the opposition any credit for being decent today. They're nothing special, it's the same PNE that's been in the Championship / League 1 for the last 20 odd years. Always competitive and well drilled, they play for the badge, but nothing more than that. But what they do have that we don't, is a strong team mentality in a tough situation. I bet if the roles were reversed, and they were defending against 10 men away from home at 1-2, they'd still have enough about them to see the game out.

For me, it's not even about "passion", identity and all the old adages we try to link to what we think makes a proper United side. I just want to see our team be more professional and streetwise in terms of game management. That's how we stop being bottlejobs.

I've never been very keen on substitutions when we're winning. The organisation always seems to disappear. If we're chasing a game it's a different matter.
