As with last year I have been through all of our fixtures for this season, and come up with 3 benchmark sets of results which would achieve 3 different objectives:-

a chance of the playoffs (71 points);
almost certain playoff achievement (78 points).
almost certain automatic promotion (90 points).

After each match game I will post 2 graphs. (Obviously, after just 2 matches these comparisons are very early,)

Graph 1 shows our progress against my 3 benchmark sets. With 3 points from the 2 games, it is just possible to see that we are ahead of my results necessary for the playoffs, and just one point behind my Auto Promotion line.

Graph 2 shows our progress against time (not against the same opponents) compared to last year’s results with Slav and Hecky. On 3 points this year, we are already ahead of the one solitary point that we had with Slav (after playing 2 games - home to Blues and away at Swansea last year). As we only got 2 points from our first 5 games last year we are certainly destined to stay ahead for the time being!

My main thought from today was that we were a very solid crew at the back, and that's how you get promoted. "Anel the Anvil" was magnificent, I loved the moment he won the ball, bombed forward, gave it to Jebbo, overlapped, and then went ballistic when he didn't get it back.

Graphs 1 & 2 are shown below.

Love to see these graphs ......as long as the red line is higher than all the others !!

Keep up the good work! I love graphs! Just to ask, on the first graph the line isn't straight. Is this because you have 'guessed' the result - so a draw against Swansea, a win v Blackpool etc.
Also - would it be possible to put the home games in bold?

To answer your questions - the 3 dashed lines in Graph 1 of my original post represent 3 sets of benchmark results for every individual match. These results are based on the opposing team's form last year, and then 3 simple models, for home and away against that strength of team, are applied to generate the prescribed end of season totals.

With regard to highlighting home games on the axis - Excel doesn't give an easy way to edit individual axis labels - only all of them! There is a workaround where you create dummy charts with no data for each label colour and then remove the original labels and insert the dummy charts with their labels! I haven't got round to trying that yet - but (as shown below) I have added (H) to the labels for the home games on the chart if that helps.
