When are the Blades going to appoint a PR person to communicate with both the fans and the media?
We hear so much b******ks regarding this and that yet noone comes out with an honest statement!
News is left to drip out leaving both fans and media 'in the dark regarding what is happening at BDTBL.
After Beattie, Kenny, Naughton, Walker, Lita, Smith, McIndoe when stories were rife and very few had substance we now have Killas saga.
Has he been offered a contract YES or NO According to people on this site he is a greedy b*****d and wants £28k per week according to Killa he has not been offered a contract.
We need someone to communicate to both fans and press just what is exactly going on - the club would not receive half the critisism it does if we were all told the facts.
If the fans didn't get the 'mushroom treatment' perhaps they would be more understanding of the situation What situation Who do we believe!

United utilise a number of PR companies, with HR Media their primary company to the best of my knowledge. They also have a press officer. What you're after a fan liaison officer, which is an entirely new role.

No club has an individual as to who you desire, because they they realise that talking about everything and anything that a supporter may be interested in is counter productive.

But hey, any stick with which to beat the club and all that eh?

No its not a stick I am looking for but a shield to perhaps deflect unfair critisism believe it or not!
I see the majority of problems arise from misquotes, no quotes at all and sometimes spurious stories raised in the press.
When we hear that we are going to sign X,Y or Z at £millions etc then hopes are high only to be dashed by inactivity or lack of comment!

What a bizarre rant. Alternatively, you could just get on with your life and stop taking everything that does / doesn't happen according to your personal standards (which appear to be based on playing Championship Manager) as a personal insult.

Not a personal insult - information gleaned to form a reasonable judgement!
What a demand for more information has to do with Championship Manager God only Knows
I just think if the club were more up front then false hopes and misunderstandings would not be raised

I actually think we try and do our best with the media release's. The problem is when there are other clubs, agents, Media and even players that don't follow the same rules it can look like we're idley twiddling our thumbs.

Of course nowadays the slightest sniff of a rumour is then taken on by every paper, radio station, Satellite Sports news channel and website with a slight interest in Football and the Blades.

The policy at United seems to be 'say nothing until the deals done'. We've been burnt in the past by Howard signing etc. But we also came out of the Hume incident (I think) with some credit by saying nothing, whilst Barnsley continued to spout off at us.

The situation with the Kyles came out of an announcement that we agreed a deal with Everton for Naughton, but we ended up embarrassed slightly as in the end the pair went to Spurs.

We've also had situations in the past (recently) where info has got out about us tracking a player and we end up losing out on the signing because of leaked information.

I prefer the say nothing until the deals done option

Whilst I agree we've been fairly crap at communication, they have actually spoke about Killa previously.

Plus, they are onto a bit of a no-win anyway, because any positive news is regarded as "spin" by many :)

At the q&a session with mccabe a while ago, this was something on the agenda and that mr mccabe wanted to try and communicate with the fans better.

Think houso should go and tell mccabe off now for beating the club with a stick!!!

Yep, improving the communication is exactly the same as telling supporters what's happening with players' contracts and who we're bidding on every friggin day of the week.

Personally, I'd like a dedicated Account Exec at BL who I could ring for confirmation every time I see a rumour in the paper.

The club gets slagged off for releasing stories about moves for players like Leroy Lita before he's signed and Lee Strafford gets slagged off for being best chums with Owlstalk, but apparently we want the same now.

Rumour and gossip is the stuff that forums like this are based on. Sanitise it with fact and what is there left for us to pontificate over - very little (we could certainly get rid of the Rumour Mill category). To me it's comparible to introducing technology to determine some contentious decision during a game. I for one don't want it; again if everythings sorted before we've left the ground what the hell is there left to discuss and argue over. The vast majority of games are remembered for their could haves and should haves.
To summarise I'm happy to remain ignorant on all things factual and to be a self-indulgent sage on all things shite.

From McCabe not me mate. Go and protest about it. Bash him with a stick...

And a spokesperson would help prevent things that happened in pre season...
:fishy:

I believe you missed my point. By some distance.
