We've had one month where we consistently ground out some results.
That's one month from an entire season. And even then we got a bit lucky while playing awfully against Coventry.

I can count on half the fingers of one hand the times we have played well this season. And one of those was Peterborough, which should only be half a finger.

We've been poor pretty much all season, as anyone who has watched us all season will concur with.

This is why the likes of me (and many others) have been really concerned and got more concerned as the season went on as you were calling us negative and banging on about reaching the top 2.

The season has panned out exactly how we said it would.

This stems from the very top, the tje non existent backing given to the manager. Alongside gambles that haven't paid off on cack like Connor Sammon.

could be they knew it wasnt a quick fix job
nearly half of this squad we can eject at the end of this season for free, and under fpp its the best way of doing it, nothing to do with game changing investments , but abiding by the rules , now being augmented
its frustrating , but the players brought in overr the past 3 seasons dont have the collective talents to push on , so its wait till May and start anew
we could have brought in say 2 under fpp but it wouldnt have changed the overall situation a lot

It's comforting that you no longer think we're very close to being an excellent side and that 2 signings would see us push for the top 2.

we could have been if we would got some momentum , but this groups put a barrier up to stop any belief , they are capable , they arent relegation material but just dont have the extra 10 per cent to get out.
I said we needed 2 to ensure a play off berth , we were never ever strong enough for top 2 , you keep saying I insisted we could but I thought 3rd or 4th was our best hope with 2 or 3 new players and finding our mojo wed only have got a top 2 if a lot of clubs faded, like Donny managed

Falling gates mean less to spend on wages without serious equity investment. We'd have to rebuild on a shoestring.

Come on BTL, stop rewriting history, you were definitely talking up our top two chances, you only changed your mind to play offs once reality kicked in, somewhat belatedly.

It's not really anything to do with belief, you were correct in the OP, just aren't good enough, happy to take big salaries but not to do the hard work to justify them.

If anything, they have too much belief for their limited skill set.

never said top 2 , , not since october , and the first flush of results faded , after 6 games it was a possibility after 16 it had gone
unless you just keep remembering when we all thought it was possible

was a distinct possibility then

We'll have to agree to disagree as me and you have had plenty of disagreements around me telling you we'd no chance of making the top 2.

Must have been around the time you weren't comparing us to Man Utd.

so back for 6 days and my treat was getting to see the blades take on Wigan
having been told by many you dont see what shit we watch , I got to see what the problem was
put simply
the players
just arent good enough, I felt before I came we needed 2 to spark us into life
when you see us play a player like Wigan are in this game its as plain as the nose on your face we have players incapable of reaching goals , falling short of whats a minimum requirement to compete
coutts
hammond
sammon
baxter
mceverley
collins
flatter to deceive, on paper have the attributes , but dont take it on the grass

head to head with the wigan lads they came out second in most challenges

its not adkins or mccabe or the prince
its the players who just arent good enough
simples
I came away realising we need nearer 4 to 5 to compete , gutting
its good to step away and come back and get some clarity , no wonder Adkins hasnt rushed to waste money this season , but can clear out and go for it next season
Welcome to 2016 where've you been ?

Do you really think we will release all the out of contract players in May?

Unconvinced. A draw at Donny will see something along the lines of good point,,,away at local rival,,,always difficult,,,,rot stopped just need to go on a nice run now,,,,,can easily win 12 of the last 16,,,,,,,bet *insert rival D1 side above us/global football behemoth who have lost * would have settled for a point today,,,,

Hope so anyway, I'd miss him if he were cured.
Youve been paying attention lad

yet more bullshit
I have never directly compared us to manchester united
we are a professional football team , , exactly like they are but thats where it ends
they lose games too
and to their fans 3 years without winning anything is to their fans like us going 80 years

after the gillingham debacle adkins got it over to them how to play to win
and for a while it gelled and we played well, they have either forgotten or ignored what they did in those games

to go up you need consistancy and thats what some of our players dont have
2 prime examples are Sammon and Baxter, on any given day they possess the ability to cause the opposition a lot of problems
now for what ever reason they just dont seem to do it on any given saturday
Baxter was head hunted as a youngster by Everton , had unbelievable talent , but was released
why , they saw he lacked the desire , the drive, he had the gift of talent , but thats useless without the drive
thats what we see , occasional talent , but zero desire, zero ambition
hes settled for getting payed for 3 hours work a week
In defence of our more creative players,it'difficult in this side with the lack of pace and movement, the inability to hold up the ball or run in behind...Baxter and Coutts are the players we're looking at to be creative, but their options are often limited as we don't really have anybody who can run in behind...so little option for a through ball or ball over the top for instance, and add to that you need movement,or someone to hold the ball..how many times do we have an attacking option on the left with JMac and Woolford for instance...instead the ball has to be worked through by playing one two's or is passed to someone who's got his back to goal,or can't get past his man,so he passes it off,or more likely loses possession and we're back to square one,and usually the build up has taken so long that the opposition has got 10 men behind the ball....Kevin McDonald had the same problem,It's difficult to play a defence splitting pass behind the opposition if nobody is capable of running in behind.

you dont try and wi games by one killer ball , its one twos triangles , sweeping passes the full gammet, our midfield , just dont drive the game , they dont grab it by the throat, they make the passes and shame the players into not being there , but they arent even doing that
Baxter plays for himself , he isnt driving the team forward , which is whats needed
we need far better

Judging by how long this has taken, I'll expect to come around and agree with me in about 6 months time...

Agree with most of that, but my point is the lack of options for the man on the ball...you can play triangles all you like in front of teams, but you still need the ability to get behind teams and turn them...Whether that's a one,two or a ball over the top or a killer pass in behind,or a player running with the ball beyond the defence...I agree we do need more drive from midfield, along with pace, and someone to hold the ball up top and link up.

Not good mate ,still not been diagnosed but looking like an infection in my spinal chord ,waiting for a spinal tap . Cant get out really Wigan knocked me back so looks like im going to have to give Donny a miss :(
My brother has an op next week or week after to remove cist on his back.
My mum also suffered. I am praying it does not afflict me. Good luck with it.

Epiphany accepted BTL :)
I admire your positivity and never give in attitude towards all things Blades but I don't want to tell you, "I told you so", so - I wont.

.... cos there's no need now.

Well when I last came home in early dec we beat Coventry , winning ugly and I thought we might build on it , but this last display showed too many just havent the inner belief or desire
and just arent the right stuff
