Can anybody tell me if that bunch of trumpet blowing, drum hammering clowns that calls itself a band are still barred from 'performing' at the Lane? or can we expect to endure two hours of their mindless racket on Friday?

I seem to remember a big hoo-har on Radio Sheff when they allowed back in Swillsboro but it seems to have gone quiet (hopefully !!) More importantly, did they have Strappon's support ?

Health and safety issues ....so don't worry ...they will NOT be in attendance at BDTBL (thank God

I believe they were out in force at the sty last night though ...so be prepared for another big hoo har on RS ...lol

Like you I think that a band or whatever one wishes to call them should be banned lock stock and barrel.
When watching the recent England game at Wembly it drove me potty.

Or summat to do with them being shite :D

If not, sign me up to the old 'uns brigade because I can't stand them either!

I can still remember t'days when the only band you saw at the lane was the army (coldstream guards?) band at half time. May never see them again at a footy match, shame really, quite enjoyed it as a kid.
I also have a vague memory of a pop band skipping around Bramall Lane a few years ago, I think it was Chic doing "Le Freak" can anyone confirm this?
I tried googling but no luck!

Ye gods man, you've certainly stired something there in the memory. I too have vague and misty recollections of Chic miming on the pitch at halftime. I seem to remember Bernard Edwards in ridiculously wide beige flares lugging his so-not-plugged-in bass around in the centre circle. Please someone tell me that I didn't dream it and confirm that it really did take place...

They were interviewed on RS and said they would be at their next home game against Cardiff.
Slapstick comedy act at its best far too embarrassing to be associated with football.

Mind you Kent, those rattles were noisy as well. I remember on the coach down to Wembley against the oinkers some bright spark bought one with him and found it very funny to sneak up and use it behind unsuspecting victims. Fortunately most of us were severely hungover and it was jettisoned somewhere on the M1 at around 6:45 am ;)

That was hillarious. I think they were promting a 70's revival concert at the arena.

heh .. i had a rattle.. it made a right racket.. i was bored one summer hols and got my grandfather to help me make it.. painted red and white .. everything.. managed to get it in once for a laugh.. they confiscated it for being an offensive weapon.. i'd never thought of it but you could have done someone some damage with it if you'd lamped them one.

Yeah i remember that too. If my memory serves me right it was against Sunderland in the 03/04 season. They won us to go top of the table (in place of us).

It was all rattles when I started Parisblade.Unfortunately I never got one for whatever reason, mind you times were hard just after the war.
As long as I went to the match that was the highlight of the week.

By the way do you know if Carling Blade has joined on here under another name?

Nothing's changed there then Kent, nothing takes precedence over the footy even over here :)

Not sure if Carling has joined us or not to be honest. Many have :)
