See what this takeover talk brings. Might have to start selling if not...

On the back of this season next one could be absolutely fantastic if the stars are in the night sky.

Apart from the 3 relegated teams nobody is going to be chucking major money about in the championship next season while clubs recover from covid seasons.

We've got the basis of a good squad that is being gradually lowered in age. There's some really decent free transfers knocking about this summer and hecky will know the talented youngsters at other clubs with his work in the U23's for the loan market.

The two coming up so far are nothing to write home about and unless sunderland massively improve they won't be either if they go up. Of the three coming down Watford could be the next west brom and Norwich are going to lose any decent players they have with pukki getting on. Burnley will depend on the new manager and leeds will lose phillips and raphina before they leave for their holidays. Rest of the league this season has proved we've nothing to fear in this league.

I wouldn't be all doom and gloom just yet.

Haha struggle to stay in this league.

I’ll give you 20/1 on relegation. Money to charity of the winner’s choice.

I'll also put my money where my mouth is and offer 20 to 1 odds we won't go down.
We've much more chance of promotion......lets not forget half the team have been out injured most of the season.

We started against Huddersfield with an incredibly strong bench...think McBurnie, Brewster and Berge were subs....thats 60 million in just 3 players.
In recent matches our bench is threadbare with players from the under 23's drafted in.

Lost 2 centre backs: O'Connell the full season...Basham for part of the season.
Lost 3 full backs: Bogle for half the season just as he was in superb form. Baldock and Stevens for part of the season.
Lost 5 of our 6 strikers. Mousset lasted about 3 matches, Brewster out half the season just when he found form.
McGoldrick half the season, McBurnie the last 2 months, Sharp the last month.
Only had a 6th choice striker available who wasn't as good as our attackers midfielders, so Gibbs-White and NDieye was forced to play up front.

Our issues are an ageing midfield and oldish players overall, so there will be plenty of changes.
I suppose if all our new additions turn out to be duds then relegation is a possibility but realistically it's highly unlikely.

We need a new midfield and back ups, and at least two more strikers. Somehow we need to convince someone to sign McBurnie or get him to agree to a mutual termination of his contract to free up a space in the squad and wages. Remember when Wolves were allegedly interested? That was a funny joke to look back on.

I’m not sure all injured players will be back to start the season unfortunately:

McBurnie - out
Brewster - back
Sharp - back
JOC - will he play again?
Stevens - back
Bogle - out (Heckys timescales on injury say September though so not too bad)

Then you’ve got to replace:

Hourhaine
MGW
Davies
RCB (Croatian lad)

Possibly sell:

Berge
Egan

Need 4/5 new players plus replacements for the ones we sell. Our recruitment team need to be ready.

The only advantage of losing the semi final is that it gives us more time to plan in the knowledge of which division we are going to be in. No doubt we will have already sounded out players and agents and it gives us an opportunity to steal a March on the competition As no doubt players like to know ASAP whether we are seriously interested.
having watched that last night, assuming we can match wages who would not want to join us

Assuming Berge and MGW leave...

1st Team next season:
Wes
Bash Egan JLT
Bogle -------------- RND
Norwood --- Fleck
???
Ndiaye - Brewster

Or a bit more Leftfield:
Wes
Bash Egan JLT
Baldock -------------- RND
Norwood --- Fleck
Bogle
Ndiaye - Brewster
We'll be alright with that latter line up imo, especially with Sharp chipping in goals from the bench. Bogle could be great at CAM, might not be too, who knows, we probably shouldn't rely on him though. If Egan leaves too, Uremovic looks a great replacement if we can
