<< The Colorado Rapids are interested in Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

However, United are unlikely to let Sharp move on without a fight, as the Blades look to maintain their push for promotion to the Premier League.

The Rapids have been busy in restructuring their team ahead of the new Major League Soccer season and have already raided the UK market to sign Danny Wilson from Rangers, Tommy Smith from Ipswich Town and Jack Price from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Sharp is also on their list of targets, with sources saying the Rapids have made enquiries about Sharp's availability to see if he would consider a move to the U.S. ETC >>

i'm guessing this league is not as onerous as the one he's in now so it would prolong his career, give him a deserved final payday and set him up for the rest of his life. He'd be mad not to as all he's got to look forward to now is champ squad player or dropping down the leagues.

If I was Billy, I'd snap their hands off.... if only so that I wouldn't have to watch the NFL and NCAA at stupid o'clock in the morning anymore.

(Attention anti-american football posters. Don't miss the 'Fixed it for you' tap in by quoting and then deleting 'at stupid o'clock in the morning'. Apologies if I've stolen your thunder by pointing it out. ;) )

I actually really like the time difference with football, get up saturday mornings early and by 12 its just about all over and you can go about your day.

A mate of mine, who doesn't wish to be named, lets call him Tyler D, wonders if anyone has a property to rent in Colorado? Willing to share with Dronnie Blade if push comes to shove.
Er.

Nope.

UTB

Ps not tall enough for the rapids ;)

Get thi sen signed Billy Lad. Be a good move, unless there's an unknown fitness reason that's keeping you out of the first team and you'll be back to 100% for the blades and can give us another season.

Hyperthetically, if a move like this did come up, the best outcome for this would be for Billy to end the season with us, then go to the USA in the summer or early next season. We have to give him a fantastic send off whenever he finally leaves.

Westcoast games work for me, due to me being uk+2 hours means i often get up in the morning and various live games are still on.

As for Billy, dont want to see him leave but if he isnt going to play for us then why not. If Bradley Wright-Philips can win MLS player of the season multiple times then billy should walk that league.

It’s a no brainier if offered.

Allows him to continue being paid to play football for longer, experiences another country and lives in a good place for a few years.

A no-brainer indeed.
What a place to earn a living as a player for a few more years, bring up the family, no foreign language to learn.....
Go Billy. Play some soccer-ball, teach them how to be sneaky in the box! Y'all!

I would not want to see this, but could understand if it happened.

Check the hashtag in the message to Billy and ponder how it might feel to miss any involvement in the derby match. Pure supposition I know.

In the imagined words of the sadly departed Tyler Durden:

The publicity seeking colonial Johnny come lately 'soccer mom' wankers, can fuck right off. Go and play rounders or rugby with cushions on.

Never been a club.

Twat wanker bastards.

If he wants to go and the price is right then I'd let him go. I'm not sure he's likely to get much of a look-in, barring injuries, especially if we try one upfront. It may leave us light in that department but it would be the right thing to do, for me.

Is it just me?

I can't believe that fellow Blades are actually taking this publicity seeking shit seriously.

Billy is still good for 15-20 goals in the Championship if he plays a full season (so far 9 goals from 23 games in all comps). If he wants an easy life then fine, go and coast in the Colonies, but this lad is still good for 2-3 more years. His game is not about pace and never has been. I seriously wonder why fellow Blades are all 'wishing him well' elsewhere.

Get a grip Blades, get a grip!

For me, i dont want to see billy leave he is fantastic on & off the pitch. As its most clubs dream to have 2 boyhood fans as manager & captain. But like few have said a chance to live & play in america, Still relatively at the top level maybe even challenge for trophies is an amazing opportunity at his age that he would regret for a long time if he turned down the opportunity if offered. Bit like monty to central coast mariners

No doubt billy would bang them as there is a poor standard of defending in few MLS games ive seen & Bradley Wright Phillips is rated like harry kane. He would score for fun

Exactly this. You have to look at it from his point of view.

I think Billy will leave in the summer, with Lee Gregory replacing him. I'm 73% sure this will happen.

Moving to America could be a good move for him. But we should only let him leave if he wants to.

Millwall would have to drop their asking price by about 73% for it to happen too

I wouldn't want us to sell Sharp, but if an offer like this came in for him and he wanted to go - I wouldn't want us to stop him.

He's out of contract. In which case I think he's nailed on to sign.

Edit: Maybe not, looks like Millwall have an option to extend it.

Bumped into Prince earlier and he said Billy out/Neymar in so Gregory sounds a bit small somehow. I like prince, he was relaxed with his shades on and even signed my purple rain album cover.
