Can't believe:

1. I didn't contribute to his slagging in the original thread.
2. How much better he's been this season to last.

Far more shocked about 1 to be honest because I was really not very happy with him last season.

Dear Neil,

Thanks for being better than you were, in fact you are our rock.

Sorry for any bad things i've said about you in the past (maybe not on this thread)

You are my actual player of the season

Well done, thats two lots of humble pie in a week!

I'd have worded it slightly differently;

1. Your team mates aren't very good.
2. Your team mates are much better than you.

Don't you just love these threads. At least I always thought he was good.

On his showings last season, he was right up there with the shittest defenders i've seen in my days watching United, and believe you me, there has been a few, but the difference is there for all to see. Long may it continue

He was definitely the shittest defender I've seen. Perhaps Andy Barnsley was nearly as bad. There must have been so much wrong last season to bring the worst out of these players. Anyway, well done Neil for turining it around, and it's a sorry from me.

:)

I'm sorry for dredging this thread up, but i've got a day off work, and nowt better to do, and thought it would make interesting reading.

It's not a dig at anyone in particular, but i think it shows what a difference in Neill Collins that we have seen, and that can only be for the best.

Go on then - another slice of pie from over here.

Still think he's not up to Championship footy though. :)

Collins is our best player this season ,with Macdonald ,probably the best centre back in the division ,why can't you see that ? Have a look at David Luiz ,thats dog shit.

humble pie sits heavy in the stomach doesn't it?

well done on turning it around neil

Picnic in endcliffe park, I think there'll be a few more diners joining us yet :)

Used to be "Dog Shit Valley" when I were a kid
My first games of football were on the Rec there circa 1970-1
We used to dodge the turds - but often fail to do so!

There are a few players who have contributed much more than expected this season, Collins included, actually most of them - lower level and relative wages accepted - but credit them for that and credit the way Danny Wilson has bought the team, club and (most of the) supporters together from the wreck we were less than 12 months ago.

Used to be "Dog Shit Valley" when I were a kid!

I went to Endcliffe Park on Sunday with two of my brothers and families, for the first time in years. My it's been poshed up. The play area is all lovely with bark chippings rather than concrete to land on, and the cafe now sells more than piss weak tea and warm cans of pop. When I lived at Banner Cross "Encs" was legendary for the massive "Dog Shit Valley" graffiti near the swings. It's slowly getting nicer. Perhaps the swamp/lower duck pond could be sorted next.

Anyway, Collins. Much better. Carry on please.

Ahh the swamp. - Still not cleaned out?
Used to be a waste of time putting your model sail boat in the water there as it always got clogged up in the trees at the back.

That graffiti was on the back of the block granite shelter and probably did much to persuade a clean up - seemed to remeber the graffiti stayed there for a fair time - perhaps the council thought it best to leave it to hammer home the message.

Walked through there many a time as a kid down to Hunters Bar with my Nan to help her get her shopping and catching the bus back.

My gran lived just up from Endcliffe Park and past Porter Brook so I spent loads of my childhood down there. Remember being banned from playing on the park when I wandered up one day, happy, smiling, out of breath, holding a football and covered in mud and...other stuff.

Endcliffe Park gets rammed as soon as the sun comes out, perfect for a picnic in town....

Other than that, Chatsworths your best bet, my humble pie is a nice spot of Pork pie, branston and a touch of stilton.

If you're heading to Chatsworth for your picnic and thinking pork pie, may i suggest Chatsworth farm shop for the best pork pie in the galactic empire.

Endcliffe Park is where we used to go and play football when I was a student in Sheffield (lived across the roundabout on Guest Road). Ah, the good old days...actually, it was only 8 years ago that I left mind, still make me feel old though!!!

Mi Amigo.

It was the memorial service on Sunday, which was going on as we sat outside the cafe. Today was the anniversary of the crash.

There was also a huge "Dog Shit Valley" artwork sprayed on the path near the playground. That's Sheffield graffiti for you - succinct. None of that buggering about like Banksy. Sheffield = Minimalism.:D

A beer / meal on Ecclesall Road followed by a walk through Endcliffe park out towards Deryshire.

Sheffield's brilliant....:)

i have a theory on this.. i reckon collins was out in north korea working for unicef when we tried to sign him.. he couldn't get out of the country so rings his (less talented) twin brother and tells him 'go and pretend to be me for a couple of months until i get back' .. unfortunately due to visa issues he didn't get out until July and so we were stuck with his twin brother until the end of the season.. :D
anyone remember a similar transformation of such epic proportions from zero to hero.. i can't .. john gannon??

His twin brother was still marginally better than Nosworthy, though
