The rumour was that Pep thought his development had slowed down so he needed more regular game time at a good level where as McAtee had really impressed in the second half of last season with us. They’ve switched places in the city pecking order (apparently)

I can’t see that, McAtee was good but he isn’t on the same level as Palmer.

Yeah I can’t see that either.

But I could see it more that Palmer remains in front but needs a season of playing 90 mins week in week out before being a real starting 11 City option.

Whereas McAtee could do with a season with the City first team getting minutes here and there while he develops himself further. Then maybe another loan (like Palmer).

yeah good thinking that teddy i think weve a good chance of landing palmer if we could somehow sort the finances out for souza that would be 2 good deals for us

loans don’t count as u-21, even if they are under 21
 
The midfield is starting to look decent if this comes off. Also sorts out the left side significantly too.
 

I think this may be the reason the Doyle and McAtee links have been constantly dismissed over the last few weeks. We want Palmer and if we get him it instantly rules out either of those. Unless we buy outright of course which I don’t think we will.

To be fair, Rocket Man obviously knew we had filmed the signing video before anyone else so it was therefore "done" when he said it was.....only an 11th hour change of heart from Illy changed things....
