Having retired this year, one of my farewell presents was a United home shirt, from last season unfortunately, but beggars can't be choosers. All my colleagues signed it, then I managed to get Joe Root's signature and finally all the United squad plus Chris Wilder. So, it then needed framing, so having phoned round Harrogate companies and getting quotes from £70 to £250, I obviously went for the £70 one. So off I trot this morning to a little framing place in a back street and gave this bloke my shirt. It will look something like that one on the wall he said, the only framed football shirt on display. Yes, it was a Blades shirt circa 2009, play off final. Not that I wanted to be reminded of that of course. It turns out the owner of the shop worked with one of United's back room staff who lived across the way and had donated the shirt. Small world eh?
