Coach Cresswell

I am still concerned that 2 out of 4 players (Quinn, Monty, Collins or Doyle) will need to go before Friday. With Monty looking unlikely we could end up going backwards

Stuff the FFP rules. The only punishment imposed by the league is that you can't sign new players.
We don't need to sign any new players, our current squad is strong enough and deep enough already.
We have a really good chance of promotion if Quinny stays and we don't sell Maguire, Colllins or Doyle.
If injuries and suspensions start to bite that's when the kids will get their chance rather than short-term loanees and that's just as it should be.
Who cares if McCabe has to subsidise the shortfall for one more season?
He promised to do so when we got relegated into this division (mainly due to him).
After his catalogue of mishandling our key assets both on and off the field, it's the least he can do for us anyway.

If this is true then I think it's a good move by the club. Hopefully it will bring his wage down and secure his future involvement in the game as well as the club. I think he'd be spot on for the role imo.

Just echoing most of what's already said here - I'm glad for the Club and for Cressie. It appears to be a really mutually beneficial agreement and it's nice to know we can still call up Cress to show the young uns how it's done...if need be...

I met Cressy last night. He is one of the coaches for Dunnington U11's and were playing Pocklington who my lad featured for. I went up after he had finnished talking to the kids. He told me he will be taking the U21s next season but will be mostly playing this season. He is looking forward to the coaching role which was nice to hear and he explained that he will be playing (should Danny pick him) from Saturday. Not earth shattering I know but at least it was from his lips.

If Cresswell is taking on the U21s next season, where does that leave Chris Morgan?

I'm baffled by this. By making Creswell a player/coach, does it mean his salary is not covered by the wages cap?
If so we could employ half the senior squad as 'coaches'.

As far as i understand Creswell has taken his coaching badges so can be employed in a player/coach role> other senior players havent so could not

bet there are a lot of players doing their coaching badges now then

Was really pleased to read this news earlier today. We all know Cressy has his faults but no one can doubt his effort and commitment when he is on the pitch. An old head such as him will still be an asset this season and lets face it, he`ll still chip in regularly with a goal.

Sensible move by the Blades in sorting this out to everyone`s satisfaction.

What he said.
