No you are. Suggesting that the player would be struggling to adapt to a different culture is putting yourself in his shoes and this is insular thinking, i.e. parochialism. I can just imagine him wandering around Sheffield like a lonely soul at 7 am looking for his equivalent of an all-day English breakfast then complaining there was no HP sauce when he found one.

Please could you read my posts before you challenge them? At no point did I suggest that foreign players would struggle to adapt to a different culture.

I was pointing out that, while all players (foriegn or domestic) have to adapt to new clubs, there are often more factors to consider when coming from a different country. That's not parochialism.

Nice tangent (you're good at that) but I'll stick to the subject. I've quoted the relevant passage of your post twice now so I'll not waste any more time doing it again. It's a pity Christmas has just passed or I would have bought you a dictionary. I'll save it for next year and engage you again when you've read it (and grown up a bit).

At no point during the passage you quoted did I say or infer that anyone would struggle. I said (and clarified again after) that there are simply more factors to consider for players moving internationally rather than domestically. To say so isn't parochial, it's a matter of fact.

I either haven't explained well enough, or you still don't understand the difference. Based on your track record, I'm going to assume it's the latter.

Isn’t it just reasonable to suggest the average player with no experience of England or English football will face challenges that a player brought through the English system will not?

Of course every individual should be assessed according to their strengths and weaknesses, but part of the expense in setting up a wide scouting network is in being able to gather that information on many previously unknown individuals.

If we define parochial as narrow mindedness, that would need more evidence. Unless we think we should rely more on video evidence for making signings. It seems our management want to know about character as much as skill.
